Just an idea here. To help move Suki from the spot light, maybe only award her half of any XP she earns or cap it. This will slow her progression and on par with the others and eventually near the back.
… Suki's level isn't that high. You're nearly caught up as Jaron, for being here longer.
… And you do realize Sarah is at the same level as Suki? Should she be docked as well? :p
Sounds like a plan, maybe nerf it by 25% to start, if that still excessive, then by 50%.
Right now I have a few behind the scene cuts working that aren't in print, such as, no Deductive Reasoning award unless a skill roll has been made to accompany it (successful skill roll), same for Ideas, clever or not. Other measures include no awarding of Endangering life of Critical actions unless the entire team gets the same award. Nor does she get awarded anything for Self Sacrifice. Also, more often then not, she gets minimum points for those XP categories with a variable tally associated with it (unless the entire team is awarded the same thing at which the point count is the same across the board.)
Side Note: Most if not all the kill XP thus far has been pooled, I.e. Gage and Suki vs. the Melee Reaver; BOTH characters got the same XP, points for the kill and points for the assist. (Now in a few instances, where only one person can be credited with the kill (as was seen in Part 6's XP tally and will be seen in Chapter 10 tallies), that character will be awarded full credit and the XP will not be shared.) I would prefer to use the buddy/assist system because of the very common happenstance of one person doing 90% of the damage, and then someone else finishes the target off. Such as Gage delivering the final blow to the cave creature everyone helped to kill. This way I can avoid the sour grapes associated with 'kill stealing'. And while this may have tossed points Suki's way, it has also tossed points the way of every single person playing at some point or another.
Then there are the times she is held away from the group which lowers her point count as well, alongside the instances, such as last session, where she is just a shooter, pew pew, with little else done except to illustrate a point or two, i.e. missiles are next to useless.
Of course the easiest thing to do is totally sideline the NPC and shuffle her off to some other command, or into command, but, that would negatively effect some players gaming experience. Another option which I don't want to touch, is how I handle Anji's level, which no one minds because she is 3 levels behind the leaders of the pack anyhow, and that is to, at a arbitrary point, bump the level up.
