Perfect!

Without being ultra precise that tells me I can use a Suppressive fire attack with the MV-885 16 times before running out of ammo using dual drum feeds… (based on my current skill lvl)

Simply stated:

1x Suppressive Attack = 12 Bursts (20 rnd Burst)

Now I'm ready for some FIST pounding!!

The suppressive rules for the MV-885 fall outside of the norm. In terms of barrel wear due to heat. Lets just assume that it uses a barrel along these lines, case hardened and heat resistant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBNGgu0qGlQ&feature=related

This is one of those instances that I can use Handwavium to avoid the gritty realism of barrel wear by saying, it's 2044, it's the future and materials technology is better then then now.

In terms of Round per Minute. Lets assume a 3000 rpm rate (equal to the M134 used by the US Military today) so, with a 2000 round drum, on one trigger pull you're empty in less then a minute. In this case, three full melee rounds. (45 Seconds)

Any further detail on that I want to avoid because I don't want to bog the game down to much.

Hope that helps! ^_^

Regarding Suppressing Fire:

What's the actual burn rate of the MV-885 using a Suppressive Fire attack?

M61 (RL) is something like 6000 - 7200 ROF…

While the MV-885 is virtually a granted hit in it's kill zone, knowing the exact ROF will give the operator a good estimate of how long to hold down that trigger! Or not to!!

Even a simplification that says suppressive fire attack (2 attacks) depletes 1/8th of the ammo drum, or something similar would be exceedingly helpful when using this particular weapon.

Regards

Ted: I noticed the house rules. Looks good but have some questions

About suppressing fire…..would weapons made for suppressing or proficient user improve the target number to beat? I was also thinking maybe speed would be of use in avoiding suppression fire, in the old TMNT book, speed gave a bonus to dodge could use only that bonus.

GM: Speed is indeed a factor. It will not give you any bonuses to dodge, or save, but, it will allow you to exit a Fire Zone faster. The TSC book has the distance you can travel in one melee round as your Spd. Attribute x5. It also states that you divide that total by how many attacks you have to find how far you travel in one attack.

For Example: Suki and Sarah are both laying down suppressive fire into a 5 meter Fire Zone. Sarah is using her Gallant H-90's (ROF 30) and Suki is using a HRG-70 (ROF 100). So 30/2 + 100/2 = 65 / 5 = 13, so the save would be 13 to get across the Fire Zone unscathed. The target has a speed of 13 and 5 attacks. He can travel 13 meters in one attack, not fast enough. He will have to make two saves to clear the Fire Zone since it will take him two attacks to cross the distance. If he had a speed of a 15 or higher he would make it across in one attack. So in essence Speed helps you avoid the incoming fire since you are spending less time in it.

As for proficiency, maybe a +1 for those with WP Heavy Weapons would be in order, but only when using a Heavy Weapon. Weapons like Miniguns, Railguns, and Heavy Machine Guns, anything that is designed to put as much lead downrange in as little time as possible are great for suppressive fire; H-90's, FAL-2's and H-260's with their three round bursts are not; but, they can still lend their fire to the mix and can work in a pinch.

Also, Suppressive Fire isn't something you will (or should) do each and every attack, you will blow through your ammo far to fast. Suppressive fire is good for situations where you need to keep the enemies head down so you can maneuver.
