Chapter 5 - Act V - Part 1

BEGIN LOG

[07:02:18] Chris: So, free Rp for a bit, Ground Team, hold for a bit until Gage and Lee pop in since the dialogue that will transpire should be heard by them, Air team, it will be much easier to do RP as only Jaron is away right now, and he had stated he had gone off to the CIC
[07:06:33] 2 LT Komillia goes looking for Sarah, wondering what's going on with Suki.
[07:07:04] GM: Komillia makes her way to sick bay.
[07:07:24] CWO Sarah is in sickbay with Suki, per normal at the moment, worrying over her.
[07:07:32] GM: Since Sick bay was the last known place that Komillia would know to look
[07:07:55] CWO Sarah: (( unless this is after the move in that other log ))
[07:07:56] 2 LT Komillia walks up to the receptionist.
[07:08:24] 2 LT Komillia: "Hi, I'm looking for a Lt. Ishida. Can you help me?"
[07:08:28] GM: The sick bay is hopping, and that's not a good thing. Most of the wounded are from crewman's injuries sustained in the trio of massive missile strikes the Yuki endured.
[07:10:16] GM: There are a few pilots, mainly bioroid jocks given the uniform they are wearing. There area few, about 5 stretchers on the floor with sheets pulled over, grim reminder of the damage inflicted by the Haydonites. A med tech turn to Komillia and points over to a separated area of the sickbay.
[07:11:56] UEEF Medic: I think she's over there LT.
[07:12:00] UEEF Medic points
[07:12:25] 2 LT Komillia: Thank you.
[07:13:25] 2 LT Komillia follows the direction given to her and goes looking for the little Japanese girl with the ballooned chest, there aren't many of those, so it should be easy to spot.
[07:13:57] 2 LT Komillia: [1d20] => [3] = (3) ((PERC, for grins and giggles.))
[07:13:59] CWO Sarah: (( *sniggers* ))
[07:14:20] 2 LT Komillia takes a wrong turn somewhere…
[07:14:25] CWO Sarah: (( almost saw a furry tail there ))
[07:14:40] GM: You see a busty squirrel
[07:15:36] GM: It's not hard to find her, as Sarah is sitting on the side of her bed wiping caked blood and dried snot from her face.
[07:17:38] 2 LT Komillia: And I just remembered why I hate hospitals. So any news?
[07:17:59] 2 LT Komillia touching Sarah lightly on the shoulder.
[07:18:41] CWO Sarah looks up quickly. "She'll be okay, but she's out of commission for a while."
[07:19:14] Lt. Ishida looks up with bloodshot eyes and manages a weak smile and nod of her head.
[07:21:26] 2 LT Komillia: Yeah, your Kami took care of you, most people would be dead after that. But what's the saying? That which makes you stronger doesn't kill you?
[07:22:36] Lt. Ishida nods slowly. "Hai, it was not my time to reside within the Gardens of the Celestial Son's." She replies in a labored and raspy voice.
[07:26:08] CWO Sarah sighs and glances to Suki, then back up to Komi. "Came pretty close, though. It took multiple attempts to get her back. The had to use the defib on her four times."
[07:26:52] 2 LT Komillia: Crispy.
[07:27:06] Lt. Ishida : I'm sorry if I was to much trouble.
[07:27:11] Lt. Ishida smiles weakly.
[07:27:38] 2 LT Komillia: Yeah, well, I kinda lost my head out there, literally.
[07:27:53] 2 LT Komillia: Another shot, and that could have been me.
[07:28:47] 2 LT Komillia: Still, it'd be best if you rest and get better. If there is anything you need me to get you?
[07:29:07] CWO Sarah winces a little and nods. "Ouch." She laughs a little at Suki. "No, not too much trouble. Don't you be thinking that." She washes Suki's face gently.
[07:30:10] Lt. Ishida grimaces and manages a laugh that sounds more like a short cough. She nods at Komillia. "Hai, domo."
[07:32:08] CWO Sarah blinks a little at the laugh sounding like a cough, frowning a little and watching on more worriedly than before.
[07:33:39] 2 LT Komillia: I'm gonna leave you alone now, try to rest up and get fit for duty. Maybe a healing Kami will fix you up faster…
[07:34:10] Lt. Ishida nods again. "Thank you for your visit." She smiles.
[07:35:02] CWO Sarah smiles to Komi. "Glad you came."
[07:35:14] 2 LT Komillia gives a half-assed salute and gets out before the heebie-jeebies take over.
[07:37:41] GM: Komillia leaves sick bay and heads…
[07:38:53] GM: where does Komillia head?
[07:42:08] 2Lt. Aylanea runs her hands through her hair, checking over her mecha, and looking over Jaron's to make sure she didn't scuff it too badly when hauling it in empty.
[07:42:46] GM: There is a nice gouge in the paint ! Oooh the bastard! he scuffed your do!
[07:43:30] 2 LT Komillia goes to the hangar to check out the remains of her Bioroid.
[07:43:51] 2Lt. Aylanea: (( I's more worried about his, since I'm responsible for it ))
[07:44:21] GM: Komillia enters the hanger bay as the last of the CAP fighters land. The bay doors begin to close. (perc)
[07:44:59] 2 LT Komillia: [1d20] => [20] = (20)
[07:45:18] GM: Good lord
[07:46:26] GM: You notice the ambient light outside darken and feel the ship strain against something. You realize that the ship has plunged into the 'fog bank'.
[07:47:26] 2Lt. Aylanea: (( wow, Komi ))
[07:48:53] 2 LT Komillia: Radiation central here we come. Actually, I'm kinda surprised that the bank isn't burning. Guess it's more dust than gas…
e[07:50:44] 2Lt. Aylanea wanders over to where Komi is, from checking over the mecha. She looks out towards it and hmms. "Guess so. And if that's so, it depends a little more on what kind of dust it is. I'd /hope/ the radiation doesn't get too intense…
[07:53:14] GM: The bay doors close fully and the interior lighting goes from combat red to low intensity white. The hanger bay transits to Condition 2 (Yellow alert).
[07:55:04] 2 LT Komillia: Yeah, well, I'm no astrophysics expert, just and otaku with some idea of what real science is kinda like…
[08:02:56] 2Lt. Aylanea looks at the doors closing and relaxes. "hmm…" She glances to Komi. "Show over I guess. Unless we go to observation, or are needed somewhere…"
[08:07:26] 2 LT Komillia shrugs. "True enough. and really I don't have anything to be doing here per say. Probably just going to head to the lounge and grab something to eat or take a nap. You?"
[08:08:09] 2Lt. Aylanea nods just a little bit "Might grab a bite to eat as well, might wander up to peek out the observation deck and see if anyone is looking at the cloud."
[08:11:44] 2 LT Komillia walks to the lounge or cafeteria. "So, how did you actually get swept up in the fighting anyway?"
[08:16:19] 2Lt. Aylanea shrugs just a little bit. "I've been around the fleet my entire life actually. I don't even remember my parents, they died when I was so young…. I've been in fleet daycare or academy for the duration. And since I'm decent in an Alpha, well…" She shrugs.
[08:16:21] 2Lt. Aylanea: (( eep ))
[08:16:38] 2Lt. Aylanea: (( *licks chops* ))
[08:18:22] GM: As the pair of Meltrandi talk they make their way to the Mess Hall, it's not overly crowded but you can see tired pilots, crewmen and others eating, and still others grabbing bundles of food to take to those still on duty.
[08:20:03] 2 LT Komillia walks up and orders a burger, "Frankly, I think I need my arteries a bit clogged after all of that.
[08:23:28] 2Lt. Aylanea laughs just a little and orders something less greasy. she's not interested in a full meal but gets a couple snack cookies and a drink. "Might be a good thing. Not for me, though." She laughs.
[08:25:13] GM: Gathering your food, you make your way to the observation deck, it's occupied by a pair of troopers with binoculars. They are at the corners of the deck, watching space, as best they can in this damnable murk.
[08:28:06] 2 LT Komillia looks out at space. "Not really all that much out there, maybe if there were a space whale or something."
[08:28:07] GM: As you eat, you can see the clouds brighten ahead of you momentarily, then the reddish light fades. A few seconds later, the ship lurches.
[08:28:25] 2 LT Komillia: That can't be good.
[08:29:06] 2Lt. Aylanea blinks at the flash and the lurching. "That can't be good at all. What the heck…" she frowns and glances over.
[08:29:25] GM: there are more flashes, some further, some closer, and the ship shudders, more violently and sooner after the nearer flashes of light.
[08:31:09] 2 LT Komillia: If we were under attack they'd sound an alarm, wouldn't they?
[08:31:24] 2 LT Komillia: [1d20] => [5] = (5) PERC to see what is causing this.
[08:31:39] 2Lt. Aylanea mutters. "Looks like our try at hiding in the clouds might just be a failure." She bolts her cookies and shucks hard on her drink, looking for the intercom, expecting orders at any moment. "I'd think so…" She sighs. "Unless it's the cloud…" She hmms.
[08:31:49] 2Lt. Aylanea: [1d20] => [19] = (19) perc
[08:31:58] GM: Most of the ship is still under Condition 1 (red Alert) only certain areas have been downgraded to allow for easier work conditions
[08:32:21] 2Lt. Aylanea: (( eep, oh. ))
[08:32:22] GM: Namely Sick Bay, engineering, and the hanger deck
[08:35:47] 2Lt. Aylanea: "If it was an attack, I'd think they'd send someone out to look." She slips for the intercom, looking at it. "I'd try to find out, but I'm not sure I should disturb anyone if they might be busy.
[08:43:06] GM: As the flashes and following bangs continue you can see the Miyuki, appear in the mist, pulling closer along side the Yukikaze, in a throwback to olden times you can see, from her bridge, a signal lamp, banging out Morse code to the ship you are on.
[08:44:17] 2Lt. Aylanea: (( would that be under radio: basic? ))
[08:44:23] GM: yes
[08:44:41] 2Lt. Aylanea: [1d100] => [33] = (33) vs. 83%
[08:45:50] GM: Incoming fire random. stop. Bastards trying to flush us out. stop.
[08:47:12] 2Lt. Aylanea swears softly. "Shit. Thought so…" She looks towards the flashes from the Miyuki. "Trouble is, if too much random fire hits, we have a problem…"
[08:47:40] GM: There are some return flashes from the Yukikaze
[08:48:31] GM: Flow with current. stop. Station keeping only. stop.
[08:49:08] GM: You see the Miyuki respond that it copies all and you can see her drive flares deaden.
[08:49:39] 2 LT Komillia: ((This thing really needs some sounds for when people talk.))
[08:50:13] 2Lt. Aylanea scratches her head and watches, nodding just a little.
[08:50:24] 2Lt. Aylanea: (( it expects you to pay /some/ attention during the tabletop ))
[08:51:11] 2 LT Komillia: And just how many people need to change pants after that little communique?
[08:51:43] GM: The pair of ships drift with the nebula's current. It takes many hours to pass away from the enemy bombardment. It isn't until 36 hours pass that the Captain orders engines to half thrust.
[08:52:53] GM: Some time afterward, you are ordered to launch and resume your 'pilot fish' duties.
[08:55:15] 2Lt. Aylanea preps her alpha quickly, checking it over and fixing things for how she does them, looking out.
[08:56:48] CWO Sarah got lucky last time, even if Suki didn't. Her Beta is totally intact (yay). She preps quickly as well, readying for a launch.
[08:57:30] 2 LT Komillia climbs into her Bioroid and goes through pre-flight.
[08:57:34] CWO Sarah: (( though now she gets to worry that she passed her bad luck to Suki ))
[08:57:35] Lt. Ishida watches the others mount up and prep for launch, her arm still in a sling. She salutes you from 'Vultures Row' as you depart.
[08:58:38] GM: You launch into the murk, ahead of you, the 'fog' seems lighter. The Yuki informs you that she will hold position while you take a look.
[09:01:34] 2 LT Komillia scans the area for nasty surprises. (([1d20] => [14] = (14) PERC, [1d100] => [9] = (9) vs 60 Sensory Equipment))
[09:01:46] GM: You trek forward and the end of the fog bank seems at hand, you can see each others mecha more clearly the further you fly…until you burst out of the soup.
[09:02:41] 2Lt. Aylanea sits up as she bursts from the soup, watching quickly. [1d20] => [20] = (20) perc [1d100] => [79] = (79) RSI vs.68%
[09:03:39] GM: Komillia, you see on sensors first a massive return, then, looking up, you see the unmistakeable sight of the bow of a Thuverl-Salan dead ahead, pointed right at you. Ay, you see the same, in reverse.
[09:04:40] GM: Lt. Fairman calls out hurriedly for all craft to pull up!
[09:04:44] 2 LT Komillia: "We got a Zentraedi ship in front of us. That could be useful."
[09:04:50] CWO Sarah blinks a moment as they clear as well, looking around to see what all is there, in case she might not notice it. [1d20+5] => [16,5] = (21) perc (pc sig), [1d100] => [68] = (68) sensors vs. 65%
[09:05:22] CWO Sarah pulls up promptly, as well.
[09:05:28] 2 LT Komillia gets out of the way. [1d100] => [40] = (40) vs 85 piloting, [1d20+10] => [7,10] = (17) to dodge.
[09:06:13] 2Lt. Aylanea pulls up a little frantically, trying to get out of the way. [1d100] => [6] = (6) vs. 87% piloting
[09:06:44] GM: As you all pull up to avoid impacting the massive vessel you pass over the bow, and only then do you realize that that is all it is, just the bow. The rest of the ship is missing, tattered girders and hull plating indicate that this ship died violently.
[09:07:52] 2 LT Komillia jokes, "Darn it, there goes my plan of seducing my way into commandeering something with real firepower."
[09:08:22] GM: Beyond the shattered prow of the once mighty Zentraedi destroyer lies a graveyard, massive chunks of ships float randomly, most, 89% are Zentraedi, although the wreckage of Invid Clam ships and Tirolian Cruisers can be seen.
[09:09:41] CWO Sarah shakes her head a little. "Wonder how long ago it happened." She moves along the ship, then blinks as she sees some of the other debris, pulling to a stop for the moment. "Something… really bad happened here…" She tries to sense and scan for residual energy quickly. [1d20+5] => [4,5] = (9) perc [1d100] => [34] = (34) RSI vs. 65%
[09:10:08] GM: Sarah, there is no active PC within your scan range, the debris field spans for hundreds of miles.

[09:11:45] GM:
Meanwhile (Air crew, cliffhanger for joo) Upon a cold blizzard swept Karbarran mountain range, the massive frame of a Karbarran Marine bearing the rank of Master Seargant surveys his domain. …
To his left and right are his entrenched troops, and behind him, his commanders Command Post, nestled deep within the ridge above. Tanks and other large mecha rest in their reventments, and further back, beyond the command post, a massive circular shaft descends into the living earth.
The Master Seargent grunts slightly, as he shifts his weight. The shaft was of vital military importance. Built not but five years ago, using the designs shared to them by the UEEF shortly after their respective cultures meeting and forming their staunch alliance. This Grand Cannon, one of 6 others, consisted the most devastating component of the Karbarran Defense Net. It was these devastating devices that had kept the Haydonite fleet in the system from venturing closer then they already had. Of course, the Haydonites were a crafty foe.
In the sky above, there was a bright flash. The MSgt gnashed his teeth, then curled his lips up into a toothy smile. Three times earlier they had come, and three times they had battered themselves against his defences. This fourth time should be no different, he hoped. Remarking to a lithe female of nearly 7 claws his gravely voice carried in the howling wind. "They come."

[09:22:11] Astrea Nods "You Feel it to my friend?"
[09:23:30] Karbarran MSgt.: Yes. Ready your scouts.
[09:24:04] Karbarran MSgt.: If the Haydonite curr wish to die upon my mountian, who am I to deny them that wish?
[09:24:37] Astrea: "They are ready M.Sgt, been ready and some are more than a little… Miffed it took them this long."
[09:25:22] Karbarran MSgt.: Then unleash your hate and discord upon them Praxian, seek them out for my artillery. And, enjoy the show.
[09:26:53] Astrea nods grabbing her helmet on the way sighing as it looks nothing like traditional armor but she cant deny its better quality and slips the CVR-3 helmet on and grabs her Shrisa and M-56 on the way out.
[09:30:22] GM: Astrea hustles down to her troops, a quintet of talented scouts and soldiers. A pair look out at the receding flash, and one points. As the fold sphere dissipates the frame of three Haydonite troop ships begin to disgorge their cargo, walking tanks, infantry, and artillery pieces descend rapidly as the mountains Anti Aircraft batteries tear into them.
[09:30:53] Praxian Soldier: It may not be up close and personal, but I cannot deny I find pleasure in watching this sister.
[09:32:32] Praxian Soldier turns to her Corporal (will use UEEF ranks for ease) and smiles. "Into a blizzard this time. They must be desperate."
[09:33:12] Praxian Soldier: Not really sister, it denies us our air support, and covers their movements.
[09:33:39] Astrea: "True, but it also might cover our movements while we get in close."
[09:34:15] Praxian Soldier: Fah! So they do have a brain beneath their helm!
[09:35:27] GM: The mountains are known to Astrea and her sisters, but, even in good weather, the crags are treacherous, in a blizzard more so, care will have to be taken in approaching the enemy.
[09:36:05] Astrea: "Shall we mount or Pegasus sisters, or go on foot for better stealth?"
[09:36:44] Praxian Soldier: I relish not the prospect of falling in this storm, I choose an approach on foot.
[09:37:23] GM: ((You have VR-041's available to you))
[09:37:41] Astrea: "On foot it is then. Get your weapons prepared and we move out, VR-041's and CVR-3 only."
[09:38:40] Praxian Soldier salutes by way of her arm across her chest.
[09:39:25] Astrea Does the same crossing both her arms and heads to her VR-041 switching it to power armor mode shuddering a bit as the extra warmth hits her.
[09:41:09] GM: The VR's sport white capes, thick, with fur liners, good for show, they also serve to mask your thermal signature, and break up your silhouette. They also work well as camouflage, for when you must remain in one position for extended periods of time, and then there is the warmth they offer.
[09:42:10] GM: ((think a mix of old and new tech, like the snow troopers wore on Hoth, but with a fur liner, and generally cooler to look at ))
[09:43:50] CWO Sarah: (( lol ))
[09:45:46] GM: make some prowl rolls hon
[09:46:13] GM: vs 58%
[09:46:42] GM: Did jess disappear too?
[09:47:44] Astrea: im here
[09:48:03] Astrea: [1d100] => [53] = (53) vs 58%
[09:50:44] GM: You and your women (was going to say men) make their way to one of your pre-surveyed observation posts unseen. The enemy preoccupied by the withering ground fire. Settling in, you can see that many of the enemy have landed, and are in the process of reorganizing their formations, You also see that survivors form the frist three waves join up with them, just like the times earlier.
[09:52:16] GM: your action(s)
[09:53:30] Astrea watches and tries to think if the last couple of tactics would work again this time wich was to snipe out the leaders to confuse the enemy and let them get bombarded again while there confused
[09:53:43] Astrea: [1d100] => [53] = (53) vs tactics 53%
[09:54:12] GM: Plinking the leaders is always a good tactic.
[09:55:34] Astrea: "Sniper teams take out the leaders again, try to set up your fire again so that it comes from every direction in this blizzard should confuse them then Laz out other targets for the artillery."
[09:55:46] Astrea: "Move out."
[09:55:58] GM: roll intel
[09:56:35] GM: vs 63% with a -15% handicap
[09:57:44] Astrea: [1d100] => [5] = (5)
[10:00:13] GM: However with any good tactic, the enemy will invariably adapt, and of late it has become more and more difficult to locate their leaders, but, Astrea's keen eye is not fooled, not by the enemy covering rank, not by the enemy removing distinctive marks and features of their armor. This enemy leader in her sights, though certainly not the one in overall command, has done all this, but, the one thing one has a hard time hiding, is the swagger of authority.
[10:00:50] GM: You have found prey, what do you do with it?
[10:02:44] Astrea Clicks twice on the short wave radio to fire and then fires her own shot into the mass to hit the leader in the head
[10:02:54] GM: roll the bones
[10:03:00] GM: let me calc the bonus for you
[10:03:18] GM: +8
[10:03:48] Astrea: [1d20+8] => [10,8] = (18) KABOOM GOES HER SNIPER RIFLE
[10:04:00] Astrea: (would be a sneak attack also so he cannot dodge
[10:04:09] Astrea: (technically any way
[10:04:15] GM: this is correct
[10:04:26] GM: roll damage
[10:04:37] Astrea: [1d4*10] => 30 HEADSHOT
[10:04:58] Astrea: (30 damage from me + those of what sisters hit the same guy in the head and their own targets
[10:05:14] GM: [1d20+] => 1d20+
[10:05:21] GM: [1d20+8] => [16,8] = (24)
[10:05:26] GM: [1d20+8] => [7,8] = (15)
[10:05:26] GM: [1d20+8] => [3,8] = (11)
[10:05:27] GM: [1d20+8] => [1,8] = (9)
[10:05:28] GM: [1d20+8] => [4,8] = (12)
[10:06:19] Astrea: (1 auto miss lol possibly jammed)
[10:06:23] GM: Your sisters do not fare so well in their aim, but one does, and she was gunning for your target as well. Your two rounds impact the head, while the others score center mass hits.
[10:06:39] GM: and yes, one jam, darn this cold
[10:06:49] GM: [1d4*10] => 10
[10:07:49] GM: Your double tap (you and your compatriots shot) impact milliseconds apart, and the head of the Infantry leader is severed, the rest of the armor falling in a heap in mid order.
[10:08:10] Astrea: "Move out back to cover."
[10:08:14] GM: The enemy immediately move to cover and open fire.
[10:08:36] Haydonite: [1d20-10] => [10,-10] = (0)
[10:08:36] Haydonite: [1d20-10] => [5,-10] = (-5)
[10:08:37] Haydonite: [1d20-10] => [2,-10] = (-8)
[10:08:37] Haydonite: [1d20-10] => [1,-10] = (-9)
[10:08:37] Haydonite: [1d20-10] => [6,-10] = (-4)
[10:08:37] Haydonite: [1d20-10] => [9,-10] = (-1)
[10:08:42] Astrea stays low and moves back after leaving a pointer and calls back to base "There lased."
[10:08:53] Chris: Their blind fire hits nothing
[10:09:10] GM: roll for that,
[10:09:33] GM: you fired and displaced, lazing a target requires you to be stationary
[10:09:43] GM: or at the very least, the lazing unit to be stationary
[10:10:19] Astrea: (oh i figured we would just point the laser to where the clusters shelling needs to hit around lol)
[10:10:26] Astrea: (or would that be smoke grenade?)
[10:10:35] GM: right, but you all fired, not lazed
[10:10:56] GM: in this blizzard a smoke grenade would be as useful as a screen door on a submarine
[10:12:05] Astrea: (ahh my bad)
[10:12:38] Astrea moves to another position with the laser designator under cover then perks up again just long enough to see where the biggest cluster is then attempts to lase in the middle of them and call the strike in
[10:13:00] GM: Yes, it's very cold out, I'm sure all of your a rather 'perky' right now
[10:13:12] GM: your a = you are
[10:13:34] GM: roll strike and radio
[10:15:52] Astrea: [1d20+3] => [5,3] = (8)
[10:16:06] Astrea found the F3 macro key
[10:16:09] Astrea: [1d100] => [60] = (60) vs 73%
[10:16:40] GM: You call it in and shortly after wards hear the roar of shells descending.
[10:17:36] GM: The strikes are paltry, more flash then anything, some enemy units are struck, a few knocked out, but for the most part, that artillery strike was ineffective and the enemy continues it's advance
[10:18:34] GM: To learn more you would need to make some skill rolls.
[10:18:50] Astrea: [1d20+3] => [5,3] = (8)
[10:18:50] Astrea: [1d20+3] => [15,3] = (18)

[10:21:54] Astrea reports the movement over the radio and keeps moving then looks for her sisters indicating they should lase the mountain defenses and counter batteries

[10:28:39] Astrea moves to them under the cover provided by the blizzard and any terrain trying not to get shot at for the moment telling each one of them in turn to target the infantry and cannon batteries on the hill and so on and so forth

[10:32:16] Astrea gives a sort of Fuck you look to the one who shot and raises her own gun and fires a shot at his head to see how easy his pops [1d20+8] => [3,8] = (11)
[10:32:35] GM: You have to find him first, you have no idea where that shot came from
[10:33:48] GM: It would seem, that the enemy has a sniper of their own.
