[07:44:04] Tana: A few days later, you are awoken to the ship shakeing slightly, as if you were in a groundquake.
[07:44:42] 2Lt. Sarah blinks at that and loooks around quickly. "What was that?!"
[07:44:47] Tana: Oddly, there is no alarm klaxon to signify 'bad things'.
[07:45:22] Tana: …says Sarah as she awakes to find the other side of the bed empty of her lover.
[07:45:25] WO Febrith Nyx: "We must be taking off, probably as a sacrifice play involving politics.
[07:46:09] Capt Kain Crockett gets out of his bunk to investigate the matter.
[07:46:47] Tana: The rest of the crew seem excited, and are moving about with an urgancy, but not one borne of combat.
[07:47:17] 2Lt. Sarah hops up and gets herself insta-dressed, poking her head out after she does, to see what's going on.
[07:48:19] Capt Kain Crockett: "Oh my, it must be the return of the Regess bringing fully updated Valkryies." Kain says sarcastically, and stops a nearby crew, "What's going on?"
[07:49:08] UEMC Sgt.: Two friendlies are inbound.
[07:49:27] Capt Kain Crockett: "Okay, as you were."
[07:49:54] Capt Kain Crockett makes sure he is fully dressed and goes to see these friendlies.
[07:49:58] 2Lt. Sarah: :laughs at Kain's joke and shakes her head slightly. "Funny…" She makes sure and moves to follow along.

[07:50:30] Cpt. Aylanea scurries out after getting dressed, and follows along once she sees Sarah and Kain. "Somethin up?"
[07:52:25] GM: You arrive in the CIC and the rooms holoscreens are on, looking up you can see the tacticle display superimposed over a low hanging overcast showing the intercept path of two Light Crusiers desending from orbit. The tracks are labeled RNS Pembroke: Garfish II Class, and RNS Kingfisher: Garfish II Class.
[07:53:10] GM: Near the master plot you see Ishida and her XO talking to a splitscreen view of the crusiers captians.
[07:53:18] Lt. Melanie McGregor: "Garfish II class, the shining example that the people at the top have run out of fucking ideas."
[07:53:56] 2Lt. Sarah laughs, and looks up at the inbound ships, smiling.
[07:54:21] WO1 Summerwind: Probobly for the benefit of us knuckledraggers. You know how long it takes to retrain us. That or it sounds better then Garfish SLEP.
[07:56:15] GM: That being said, there really is nothing overly special about a Garfish II, it has updated internal systems, triple the amount of point defense, and tougher armor and better engines.
[07:56:18] Lt. Melanie McGregor: "You do realize that when nations start reaching that point, they typically die as nations within a fairly short order?"
[07:57:13] GM: In therms of the G2's place in the MTOE, it's an ad hoc measure to keep ships of the line, on the line until newer, shall we say, more innovative, designs slip their moorings.

[07:58:07] Lt. Melanie McGregor: ((Melanie is still going to point and laugh at the things.))

[08:00:58] GM: Ishida closes the line and then asks you to assit in the mustering and then crowd control of as much of the civilian populace as will fit aboard the landing G2's

[08:01:41] 2Lt. Sarah nods and moves to help with that.
[08:01:44] WO Febrith Nyx goes off to show off how sexy crowd control can be.

[08:01:57] Capt Kain Crockett bounces between both.
[08:02:25] GM: Nyx soon has all the males at least, making their way into the ship following a conga line in time to her swaying ass

[08:05:54] GM: Meanwhile as the civvies are loaded on, other supplies to aid the bastion are off loaded.
[08:06:41] GM: Insert visual montage of evacuation footage here.
[08:06:52] Capt Kain Crockett: ((We call her Cuban Pete, she's the queen of the rumba beat, when she plays the morrocas, they go chick-chicky-boom, chik-chicky-boom))

[08:11:48] GM: During the operation there are a few incursions of invid scouts but they are drive off by your CAP fighters
[08:12:54] GM: After you have loaded the ships you are all asked to come to the CIC conferance room for a brainstorming stratagy session
[08:12:59] Capt Kain Crockett: "I'd suggest killing the scouts, but they probably 'reported in' before we could have gotten lock."
[08:14:37] GM: ((well, driven off means, killed enough of them until they retreated))
[08:15:09] Capt Kain Crockett: ((figured, but I meant kill them ALL.'))
[08:15:55] GM: ((nod, well, it was rather on sided, they sent in enough to get ina fly over, and far less survived to actualy physcially return to the hive.))
[08:16:15] Capt Kain Crockett: So, what have you hit the hive with?"
[08:17:25] WO1 Summerwind: We hit it about a month back with a few volley of cannon fire before we set down here, which, put them behind defilade.
[08:18:30] WO1 Summerwind: Aside from that, we've loosed a few missile volleys of our lower yield weapons. Anything higer would have flooded the region with fallout, and with civvies upwind…
[08:19:15] Capt Kain Crockett: "That's it you haven't tried Reflex missiles or popped it wth a bunch of destabilizers?
[08:19:48] WO1 Summerwind: On the mecha side, we sent a few alpha strikes spearheaded by ghosts, but they are well dug in. After that, the skipper decided on playing a defensive game. Shocker, I know.
[08:21:00] Lt.Col Ishida: We coudlnt get any of our fighters close enough to punch a large enough hole to garuntee a nuke would breech the shield.
[08:21:10] Lt.Col Ishida says matter of factly to answer Kain.
[08:21:31] Lt.Col Ishida: Not without incurring unacceptable losses.
[08:21:46] 2Lt. Sarah frowns a little at that and nods.
[08:22:30] GM: ((and Anji outlined why a reflex missile was not used…fallout))
[08:23:27] GM: ((that and I'm sure there is likely a prtocol somwhere about nuke release on a habitable world somewhere deep in the Rule of War…))
[08:24:23] XO: So here is what we are looking at situation wise.
[08:25:01] XO: Both the Invid and us have been playing a largley defensive game, albiet with the Invid doing the lions share of the probing attacks.
[08:26:05] XO: Based on the intell you provided from your Pit encounter, it higly probable to assume that the reason we havent been utterly swarmed over is that they are using us, as they used you, as live fire tests for new mecha designs.
[08:27:03] Lt. Melanie McGregor: "If we had a ship that we were just going to scuttle anyway, I'd say load it with every explosive we have that is non-radioactive, and then drop it right on them. Detonating at about 500 feet above it to maximize damage.
[08:27:22] XO: The alternative to that is, that they enemy hive doesnt have the forces available to it to swarm us under and is content to attrit us, assuming they have the ability to resupply themsevles, which, with Inorganics, seems to be the case.
[08:29:02] XO: Therein lies the problem, the Hive has shields, and, on top of that, is ringed with those mobile shield batteries we faced earlier. Which is distrubing in it's own right, as they've never fielded them before, which tells us they have enough now that they can release new ones for offensive sorties.
[08:30:39] Lt.Col Ishida: We have a few options available to us…
[08:30:58] Lt.Col Ishida lets Sarah speak..as she looks as she was about to add something.
[08:30:59] 2Lt. Sarah frowns even deeper at the tactical evaluation, blinking and looking to Suki as that's metnioned.
[08:31:04] Lt.Col Ishida: ((or not))

[08:31:49] Lt.Col Ishida: Option A is leave well enough alone, retreat with our charges and be done with this place.
[08:32:14] Lt. Melanie McGregor: ((sorry, pups need out, or I'm going to be cleaning up messes.))
[08:32:19] Lt.Col Ishida: Option B is a slight variation, wherin we nuke the site from orbit once all civvilians have been extracted.
[08:33:58] Lt.Col Ishida: However, the wrinkle in that plan is rent across our hull. That hive has a powerful and…accurate enough…beam cannon. Which is the primary reason we selected this township as our baase of operations, while the hive is under defilade…so are we.
[08:34:58] 2Lt. Sarah pauses and blinks. "Reflex or Synchro level?"
[08:38:05] 2Lt. Sarah: (( yay pups ))

[08:40:53] Lt.Col Ishida: Does it really matter? Our PPB's cant defect either.
[08:41:31] 2Lt. Sarah: "I meant as opposed to something smaller. But if that's the case… that's… worse than I thought."
[08:41:35] Lt.Col Ishida: But no. they are on par with our main batteries.
[08:41:49] 2Lt. Sarah nods at that. "Oh." She relaxes just a speck then.
[08:43:41] Capt Kain Crockett: "If we still had our sniper, I'd say open a hole in the fields with a few destabilizers at range, and then have the sniper take out the cannon so we can ascend."
[08:45:39] Lt.Col Ishida: How is the cosplayer anyway?
[08:46:25] Capt Kain Crockett: "Last I heard she was having a miserable time at sniper's school. She had several people shoot themselves on the first day."
[08:46:38] Lt.Col Ishida: Fantastic.
[08:46:43] Lt.Col Ishida says dryly.
[08:47:55] Capt Kain Crockett: "Not sure if that is commentary on her teaching ability, or the over-reliance on auto-targeting systems by our own."
[08:48:55] Lt.Col Ishida: I think it is more the latter.
[08:50:23] Lt.Col Ishida: The reason I asked is becuase Fleet Intell has heard rumblings of ASC activity regards the reagion of Edea.
[08:51:47] Lt.Col Ishida: Something about them feeling secure enough in their home defense positions that they feel comfortable seeing about coralling Earths colonies back into the fold.
[08:52:11] Capt Kain Crockett: "So I think option A is the better option unless we know the nukes will work. We still need to take out that cannon with an alpha strike. I volunteer my unit."
[08:52:56] 2Lt. Sarah laughs a tthe sniper school discussion, and blinking at the news of the ASC, frowning deeply, then nodding to Kain.
[08:53:01] Lt.Col Ishida: Understood. Option A was never really an option in my book. if these Invid are testing weapons, I want to deny them this facility. Or obliterate as much of it as I can in parting.
[08:54:45] Lt.Col Ishida clicks a button on her armrest and a holo display pops up on the table in front of your as the room lights dim
[08:54:58] Lt.Col Ishida: Here is what I would like to do.
[08:55:30] Lt.Col Ishida: Kain, your team will use your Shadows, which should be repaired in a week or so. This will give us time to evac the rest of the civvies.
[08:56:07] Lt.Col Ishida: Your mission will be two fold. Phase 1 will be to eliminate at least two of the mobile shield batteries , here and here…
[08:56:19] Lt.Col Ishida points out the two facing the Havoc (compass wise)
[08:56:30] 2Lt. Sarah peers at them and nods.
[08:57:09] Lt.Col Ishida: Once those are taken out, I will want you to use as many Disruptors as possible to open a large enough hole that we can fire our main batteries thru.
[08:57:59] Lt.Col Ishida: We arent sure where that cannon of theirs is, but my bet is once we unmask and open fire, you will be the first to see it.
[08:58:01] Capt Kain Crockett: "Which means everyone," pauses to look at Ay and Sarah, "will need to bring destabilizers."
[08:58:31] Lt.Col Ishida: We can survive three hits before our PPB's fail.
[08:58:48] Lt.Col Ishida: After that, we will be taking hits to the hull direct.
[08:59:21] Lt.Col Ishida: You need to either eliminate, disable, or spot us a shot before then.
[09:00:04] 2Lt. Sarah nods at Kain, then frowns a little to that and nods to Suki.
[09:00:32] Lt.Col Ishida: We will continue to pour fire into the hive until it's shield fail utterly, at which point we will launch our new laser heads to clear out the remaining mobile units, then … nuke the hive from orbit.
[09:00:42] Capt Kain Crockett: ((Let's get dangerous!))
[09:01:54] Lt.Col Ishida: The Havoc portion of the mission cannot proceed unless your portion succeeds. Take whatever you need in men and meterial to see that it does.
[09:02:59] Lt.Col Ishida: I will leave our Rabbits (Ima squall!) on the surface to pick up any downed pilots. I hope you will not have to make use of them.
[09:03:19] Lt.Col Ishida looks at Kain.
[09:03:46] Lt.Col Ishida: We have 43 Vanquish, and 9 Ghosts left to us. Use them.
[09:04:33] Lt.Col Ishida: You have a week to game out the plan, our simulators and CIC is open to you as they always have been.
[09:05:26] Lt.Col Ishida then dismissed herself and the XO, leaving Anji with you to begin your discussions.

[09:06:45] Capt Kain Crockett: ((sorry, just coughed to the point of throwing up, give me a few minutes to get myself back in order))

[09:07:27] 2Lt. Sarah frowns and nods a little, pondering the paremeters given.
[09:07:45] GM: ((not to be flip, but my cube neighbor…he has the allergies too, and man, when he coughs I'm all, shit man, this fucker is gonna hack up a lung and I'm gonna have to call 911))
[09:08:34] Capt Kain Crockett: ((ew is only half of it, but at least what ever found it's way into my repritory system is getting expelled.))
[09:09:12] GM: yeah, when I had my cold, it was so gross, but when that 'stuff' came out it was a small victory let me tell you

[09:20:07] Capt Kain Crockett: "So how do you want ot use the vanquishes and ghosts? I was thinking as a diversionary attack while we strike at the enemy where is necessary."

[09:21:18] WO1 Summerwind: Well, the Vanq's as a distraction makes perfect sense, but, might wanna use the Ghosts as cover…you dont really think the slugs are gonna let you blow up the mobiles and punch holes in their shield unmolested do you?
[09:22:25] WO1 Summerwind: ((looked at the shield rating on the Force Armor (figure ray shielding)…nothing less then a assault or seige autocannon will even penetrate.
[09:24:35] WO1 Summerwind: Also…our PMC folks have a VF-1, VF-4 and an SV-51 available to them. Thse are invivible to PC sensors too right?

[09:48:38] GM: Okay, so, insert a montage of simulator and plannings with some fanservice mixed in (bow chicka wow wow)

[09:51:24] GM: Okay, you have done your planning, and your Shadows have been repaired and loaded with what you requested. Ghost overflights have updated your traget packages and route info as best they can, and the vanq's have infiltrated to their jump off points and dug in .
[09:52:30] GM: Ishida has had her CAG formulate a plan that allows for a decent portion of her fighter wing to proved an ariel distraction to complement the vanq's as well.
[09:53:06] GM: For all intents and purposes, it should look like a full on assault…except it's not…
[09:54:09] 2Lt. Sarah: (( ^_^ ))
[09:54:39] GM: Okay, that said, the pair of G2's return, along with the RNS Valkain (the G2 you were aboard) to pull out the last batch of civvies (those that cant fit will be able to fit abaord the Havoc)
[09:56:25] GM: As the loading begins, Ishida give a green light for the operation to begin
[09:57:11] GM: The Vanq's and the Havoc's air wing begin their portion of it, and draw off as many inivd air units as possible.
[09:57:24] GM: (and ground units..)

[10:02:34] Capt Kain Crockett: ((The vanquishes should almost take on the role of long-range versions of hellcats))

[10:04:28] Capt Kain Crockett: ((They swarm the ground units and serve as a distraction, the rest of the air forces will launch strikes at a distance, trying to take down the two shield batteries mentioned earlier, leaving the vanqs to handle any zerg rushes.))
[10:05:23] GM: The two shield batteries are yours, the Havoc's fighters will have their hands full with their own dogfight
[10:05:26] Capt Kain Crockett: ((We will fly high and out of sight until an opening appears to either take the shield batteries out, or start poking a large hole in the shield for the Havoc.))
[10:06:20] GM: You do have an opening after a time, as the Hives CAP thins to divert fighters to the dogfight which is slowly but surely kiting the fight away from the hive.
[10:09:01] GM: there are at most 10 scouts buzzing about, and they havent noticed you yet. The mobile shields are still floating at their posts, while beneath them the invid ground unbits seem to be amassing for a ground push on the vanq's. (mainly cats and cranns, with some soldiers on hover bikes (their fastest mecha)

[10:11:59] Cpt. Aylanea looks to see if she can get in behind a mobile shield, quickly, intending to fire from the weak spot in back.

[10:13:13] GM: should be, make a piloting roll (all those that wish to do so, make one as well, this will assume your not pasting yourself on either the lip of the mobile, or the currve of the hive.
