Chapter 14 - Act III - Part 9

BEGIN LOG

[07:00:50] Chris: okay, sum up, big fight in ASSteroid field. Kain, and Ay, get shot down. Komi, Sarah, Danae, and Jeron's mecha all wind up looking like half burnt wads of crumpled up tinfoil by the end of it. The Void Runner (Perytonian ship) is obliterated Haydonite's lose a Frigate, VM is damaged Ay in coma, Ay saves vs Coma, Ay in hospital adding zent funk to Invid Doc's workspace.
[07:03:55] CWO3 Sarah: xhehe
[07:03:58] CWO3 Sarah: hehe too
[07:04:00] Chris: Book has been looked over, and a discussion on where to look next invokes the name of the Volox Sysla
[07:05:28] Chris: and now you have a choice to make
[07:06:19] Chris: so, discuss, in or out of character, doesn't matter to me, your next step
[07:07:26] 2LT Kain Crokett: So, how good do you feel going to that one place you felt Sarah?
[07:10:32] CWO3 Sarah sighs just a little bit. "It… really depends. In two encounters, I've had two separate reactions, one might have been more forced though due to circumstance. That group in the Karbarra caves was friendly enough, but they're being practical about maintaining existence. The Scorpion carrier on Tirol wouldn't even acknowledge that I existed."
[07:13:34] 2LT Kain Crokett: And what do we know about any other options besides dealing with Regent Invid?
[07:15:49] CWO3 Sarah sighs. "Very little. I volunteer to go down by myself if I need to, if there's activity. They /might/ recognize me if I take my old mecha down. I'd need a transport at the end of it, but… if I'm lucky, I might be able to convince them not to shoot at the rest of us. Maybe even get the book handed over without a fuss….." She pauses. "If they don't, well, just intercept and pick up the one contact running like hell from all the others." She smiles just a little
[07:17:45] 2LT Kain Crokett: I'd say we get an IFF update for your mecha.
[07:18:55] CWO3 Sarah nods just a little at that. "I'm trying to recall if it had a new IFF installed or not, I'm thinking not. It was only used once, and that was mainly cause the garfish we were on had only two mecha aboard."
[07:19:10] 2LT Kain Crokett: ((honestly, I don;t remember any other options…))
[07:20:44] CWO3 Sarah sighs. "Really wish I could take a legios down, but that might be provocative initially. The other mech won't outrun the booster scouts."
[07:21:48] Chris: ((let alone break atmo))
[07:22:05] CWO3 Sarah: (( already mentioned. :) hehehehehe. :) ))
[07:22:25] CWO3 Sarah: (( s'why I mentioned needing a transport at the end, or a pickup if on run ))
[07:22:33] Chris: (kk)
[07:24:21] Chris: Okay, so, what yall need answered
[07:24:52] Chris: Trying to keep the campaign off of rails if you get my meaning…so…
[07:27:03] Chris: ..
[07:27:04] Chris: okay
[07:27:46] Colonial Officer enters the area
[07:28:03] CWO3 Sarah: (( eek ))
[07:28:05] Colonial Officer: Captain wants to know your plans ASAP.
[07:28:15] Colonial Officer looks at his watch
[07:28:32] Colonial Officer: You'll brief him on your suggestions in 10 minuts.
[07:28:38] Colonial Officer leaves.
[07:28:43] 2LT Kain Crokett: ((What were the other options?))
[07:29:13] 2LT Kain Crokett: ((I only know of one, and not finding anything in the log.))
[07:29:35] GM: Volox Sysla, Earth, or other. (other = something beyond the other two that you think might be a good idea…)
[07:30:10] 2LT Kain Crokett: Volox Sysla
[07:30:12] GM: The first two are the only locations that you know of that have a better then 75% chance of housing a book.
[07:31:00] 1stLt.Fairman (enter): 19:31
[07:31:08] 1stLt.Fairman (exit): 19:31
[07:32:20] GM: Okay, so we will go with the once choice, Kain wins the social roll, 10 Social points for joo.
[07:32:41] GM: Volox Sysla it is
[07:33:06] CWO3 Sarah: ooc hehehe
[07:33:08] CWO3 Sarah: (( hehehe ))
[07:34:19] GM: You report to the bridge conferance area and see the Captain, his XO, the CAG and the ships Chief Engineer
[07:35:03] 1stLt.Fairman tags along
[07:35:33] GM: They are standing about, talking shop, the chief is laning up against the window and the CAG is siting in one of the chairs, leaning back some.
[07:36:58] XO: …makes resupply out of teh question then.
[07:37:22] 2LT Kain Crokett: Resupply?
[07:38:13] CWO3 Sarah keeps quiet, keeping in Kain's shadow and listening.
[07:38:32] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual) points to you all to sit. Then replies to the XO. "I agree, it would take a month in realspace waiting for another ship to arrive.
[07:40:02] Colonial Ship Captain notes the arrival of the group via the reflection in the glass and turns and sits. "I trust you have a course and heading agreed upon?"
[07:40:33] GM: The XO and the Chief also sit.
[07:41:15] CWO3 Sarah slips to the appropriate seat, and slips in very quietly.
[07:41:39] Colonial Ship Captain: Well?
[07:41:46] Colonial Ship Captain asks again, looking at Kain.
[07:43:03] 2LT Kain Crokett: Well, We think we should go to Volox Sysla. There is a reasonable chance the book is still there. With the Invid and all.
[07:43:44] Colonial Ship Captain sits back and rubs the bridge of his nose.
[07:43:59] Colonial Ship Captain: Chief? (Engineer)
[07:44:21] Chief (Engineer): Doable, we don't use PC in our furnaces.
[07:44:45] Chief (Engineer): Although your mecha will have to be powered down.
[07:44:56] Chief (Engineer) looks at the CAG
[07:45:08] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual) nods.
[07:45:09] CWO3 Sarah glances over to Suki quickly as well.
[07:45:40] CWO3 Sarah bites her lip slightly.
[07:46:00] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): The Rabbits, I believe, don't utilize PC as well?
[07:46:08] XO: Correct.
[07:46:33] XO: Nor do our Lightnings, but, we lost our only one yesterday.
[07:46:56] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual) nods.
[07:48:08] CWO3 Sarah nods just a little as she listens.
[07:48:54] 2LT Kain Crokett: Actually, our best shot may be the Invid then. They have been known to produce Protoculture without a Matrix, if the rumors are true.
[07:49:48] 2LT Kain Crokett: "So if things go well, we may be able to do some trading, if not we'll be raiding anyway, and may as well hit the storehouses.
[07:50:21] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): I think, lieutenant, that the captain is worried about us being detected.
[07:50:44] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): Not trade consessions with the Invid.
[07:51:07] 2LT Kain Crokett: My apologies, I overheard something about a resupply and thought we were running on low on Protoculture.
[07:51:32] XO: No, that we have plenty of, what we are running out of is fightercraft.
[07:52:18] XO: After that last dust up we are down, what is it, four craft?
[07:52:23] XO looks at the CAG
[07:53:24] CWO3 Sarah /almost/ laughs just a little at 'trade concessions', but stays quiet, biting her lip softly.
[07:53:48] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): Yessir, the Lightining and a Gamma as a loss, Fairmans Alpha is good only for cannibilization, the Bioroid, is no longer combat effective, and we can make one Beat functional at the cost of the other.
[07:54:05] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): ((beta)
[07:54:54] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): So, four yes, I could field the two Beta's but I don't want to risk the pilots with them in such bad condition.
[07:55:35] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): Actually, sorry, need to revise that, one Alpha as a totla wash as well, Lt. Madresa's bird.
[07:56:00] CWO3 Sarah glances over at that. "With that issue, would it be best if I transfer to my old mecha, so that we have one to be 'down' to make the other functional? It was discussed for other reasons already."
[07:56:14] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual) nods.
[07:57:21] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): As it is, even using Bravo Charlie, I have bearly enough for CAP.
[07:57:46] XO sighs
[07:57:50] XO: Whata bloody mess.
[07:58:32] Colonial Ship Captain looks at Kain.
[07:59:19] CWO3 Sarah flinches slightly at the declaration from the Exec.
[07:59:26] 2LT Kain Crokett: And what are our options on getting replacements.
[07:59:27] 2LT Kain Crokett: ?
[08:00:18] Colonial Ship Captain: We have a message wiating for UEEF Fleet Command, requesting…another, resupply, I will have the communications officer annotate Volox Sysla as the desired drop off point.
[08:01:04] Colonial Ship Captain: However, I am not sure how this will be recieved, seeing as the Void Runner, and her cargo, was our scheduled resupply.
[08:01:22] XO: Lasted all of 15 seconds.
[08:01:33] CWO3 Sarah: (( eek ))
[08:01:37] XO: Wouldn't be surprised if they pulled the plug on this.
[08:02:19] Colonial Ship Captain coughs gruffly, silencing his XO.
[08:03:12] Colonial Ship Captain: If you had not succeeded in retrieveing the one book you had, proving to me that these intell reports actually have merit, we would be Karberra bound as we speak.
[08:03:25] Colonial Ship Captain: That being said…
[08:04:26] Colonial Ship Captain: There are other, considerations as well, that maintain my commitment to this endevour, but now is not the time to discuss them.
[08:06:44] CWO3 Sarah blinks slightly at that, almost flinching at the comment about the 'one book'.
[08:07:06] Colonial Ship Captain: Any comments?
[08:07:24] Colonial Ship Captain looks around the table.
[08:07:27] Colonial Ship Captain: XO?
[08:07:32] XO: No sir.
[08:07:39] Colonial Ship Captain: Chief?
[08:08:00] Chief (Engineer): I'll need some more time on the lateral arrays, but the ship is ready for fold.
[08:08:08] Colonial Ship Captain: CAG?
[08:08:19] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): Nothing to add captian.
[08:08:29] Colonial Ship Captain: Lieutenant?
[08:08:35] Colonial Ship Captain looks at Kain.
[08:09:51] 2LT Kain Crokett: Nothing to add.
[08:10:06] Colonial Ship Captain: Chief?
[08:10:10] Colonial Ship Captain looks at Sarah.
[08:10:54] CWO3 Sarah glances up slightly. "I had some hope of possibly minimizing the danger by going down myself if needed initially, with my old mecha. If I'm lucky and they listen, I'd hoped I could get them to let us get the book, and leave quickly. If we're super-lucky they'll be in stasis after the death of the Regent, but not counting on it."
[08:11:09] Colonial Ship Captain nods
[08:12:29] Colonial Ship Captain: Very well, we will send our message, hope it is recieved well. Ishida, see to your engines, and let me know once they are all cold. Dismissed.
[08:14:12] GM: The ship moves out, and what needds to be done is done.
[08:14:22] 1stLt.Fairman leaves
[08:15:34] 2LT Kain Crokett leaves.
[08:16:11] CWO3 Sarah slips up from her chair, looking downward just a bit as she slips for the door and heads off.
[08:16:52] GM: The VM folds out, and defolds within the Volox Sysla a few housr later.
[08:18:10] GM: Ouside you notice the familier orange and yellow hue of the Kalypsos Nebula
[08:19:21] 2LT Komillia Maeless: I hate this place already.
[08:19:29] GM: Navigation informs you all that the three worlds closest to your present location are, Kovall, Vox, and Voloxia.
[08:21:28] CWO3 Sarah heads down to check on her old mecha during the fold, to make sure it's fueled and in a position where it would be able to launch. the sight of the nebula makes her flinch slightly though. She hns slightly at the mention of three worlds close, as well.
[08:21:44] 2LT Komillia Maeless: Didn't we find a big nest of scrapped ships?
[08:21:57] 2LT Komillia Maeless: Near here?
[08:22:14] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual) nearby, answers.
[08:22:37] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): Further downstream. We're on the coreward end of the nebula.
[08:22:51] 2LT Kain Crokett: Unless they were colonial ships, I fail to see the point.
[08:24:18] CWO3 Sarah tries to wander back into the memories to see if she can't narrow it to one of the three planets, closing her eyes softly for the attempt. [1d100] => [92] = (92) Lore Invid vs. 81%
[08:24:27] CWO3 Sarah: (( guess not ))
[08:24:33] 2LT Kain Crokett: Anyway, I hate the idea of anyone going down there alone. So as Komi also helped with having a positive diplomatic experience with the Invid, and Ahmdahl selected her as a wingman, can we sneak her aboar the Invid craft and have them deal with the group together?
[08:25:28] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual) looks at Sarah.
[08:25:31] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): Your call.
[08:25:32] CWO3 Sarah coughs softly and gigglesnorts almost. "In my battloid? Hm. I suppose if I sit on her lap to pilot maybe…"
[08:26:19] CWO3 Sarah pauses and tries to check over Komi a bit, thinking. [1d20+5] => [1,5] = (6) sense protoculture
[08:26:28] CWO3 Sarah: (( @%$#%$#@%$ last night all over again ))
[08:26:53] GM: You get nothing.
[08:29:22] CWO3 Sarah thinks. "Hopefully when she's with me, it should be okay." She smiles at Komi and raises her eyebrows a little. "Though I apologize in advance for the cockpit accomodations…"
[08:29:39] 2LT Komillia Maeless: I guess it will be alright.
[08:30:10] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): And the rest of your team?
[08:30:14] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual) asks the LT
[08:32:19] 2LT Kain Crokett: If we could land a rabbit and use gas-powered Cyclones we could scout the nearby terrain, to coordinate efforts if this turns into a raid.
[08:33:11] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): Very well, I'll have a Rabbit prepped.
[08:33:28] GM: [1d100] => [35] = (35)
[08:35:04] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual) flushes slightly red and snorts.
[08:35:30] GM: [1d3] => [2] = (2)
[08:35:35] GM: You head towards VOl
[08:35:39] GM: Vol
[08:35:56] CWO3 Sarah offers Suki an innocent little smile at the snort.
[08:36:22] GM: I'm assuming standard kit,
[08:36:45] 2LT Kain Crokett: ((yep))
[08:37:21] GM: Ted, I'm just gonna go with the tree node you sent.
[08:37:37] 1stLt.Fairman: (k)
[08:38:15] GM: the BC lunches first with the Rabbit in tow and heads towards the surface. percs,
[08:38:42] CWO3 Sarah: [1d20+1] => [2,1] = (3)
[08:38:45] CWO3 Sarah: (( gah ))
[08:39:03] 1stLt.Fairman: [1d20+4] => [10,4] = (14)
[08:39:09] GM: What a big round world it is
[08:39:29] CWO3 Sarah: (( at least it isn't a squirrel on the console :p ))
[08:40:21] 2LT Kain Crokett: [1d20+1] => [16,1] = (17)
[08:40:26] 2LT Komillia Maeless: [1d20] => [19] = (19)
[08:42:11] GM: Those that had halfway decent rolls notice that the planet bears the scars of global devestation
[08:43:55] GM: within wild growth, swamps and other vegitation, the bones of shattered metropolitan centers jut out, with rusted girders and husks of structures clawing at the sky.
[08:45:46] 2LT Komillia Maeless: Looks like the intel reports from Invid-occupied Earth.
[08:46:33] GM: Among the ruins, Kain and Komi also notice the broken remains of crashed starships.
[08:47:40] GM: all of them overgrown with vegitation
[08:48:11] CWO3 Sarah flinches just a little at the thought, biting her lip.
[08:49:18] 2LT Kain Crokett: I see starship wrecks on the surface.
[08:49:20] GM: Komi, with the 19, you also notice the distinct dome shape in the distance of a few hives,
[08:50:02] 2LT Komillia Maeless: I also note Dome Hives. They are dug in.
[08:51:22] CWO3 Sarah nods just a little bit. "Well, it at least was a stronghold of their forces. That's why I'm figuring a treasure chamber to be here. It'd be in the command hive…"
[08:52:00] GM: Okay, what do?
[08:53:40] 2LT Komillia Maeless: ((I would assume Sarah lands near a hive, and the Rabbit lands as far away as practicable.))
[08:54:19] CWO3 Sarah: (( I'd almost say radioing the ship to see if any hives look substantially bigger, really. ))
[08:54:46] CWO3 Sarah: (( if they have a camera towards the surface at all ))
[08:55:21] CWO3 Sarah listens for any sign of communication from the hive network.
[08:55:32] CWO3 Sarah: [1d20+1] => [7,1] = (8) perc
[08:56:03] GM: You can hear chatter
[08:56:11] GM: They are aware of you
[08:56:55] GM: ((insert freaky borgesque Invidy whispers at the edge of your consiousness))
[08:57:42] 2LT Komillia Maeless: ((save vs insanity!))
[08:57:44] CWO3 Sarah glances back. "They know we're here." She sighs. "Guess that means I should go up and say hello, before they decide I'm not here to be friendly."
[08:57:49] 2LT Komillia Maeless: ((roll vs 2.))
[08:59:20] GM: as you appraoch a trio of scouts rise up to intercept you
[09:02:01] CWO3 Sarah offers a soft 'uhoh', and tries to offer proper pleasantries over the hive link, indicate that she's not a hostile, and all that. She also lands. [1d100] => [13] = (13) Trust vs. 97%, [1d100] => [52] = (52) charm/impress vs. 85% (not that it'll help any)
[09:03:16] GM: The Trio of scouts, change their posture and buzz about your Battloid as you land.
[09:03:46] 2LT Komillia Maeless tries to be unassuming getting out of the cockpit, as well. [1d100] => [65] = (65) vs 40 Charm.Impress
[09:03:51] 2LT Komillia Maeless: ((…))
[09:03:56] 2LT Komillia Maeless: ((FAIL!))
[09:03:57] GM: The Rabbit pilots sets the shuttle down in a clearing some 10 klicks away.
[09:04:25] GM: Instead of falling out single file, you fall out single pile.
[09:04:35] GM: You fail to impress.
[09:05:24] 2LT Kain Crokett: Remember, no P-cell use. We don't have what it takes to take on a single hive right now, much less what there is. I recommend heading for a nearby downed ship. There may be something useful there.
[09:05:24] GM: an Invid scout waddles up to Komi and looks her over.
[09:06:42] 2LT Komillia Maeless: "Hi, I'm the ambassador picked to talk to you along with my friend." [1d100] => [97] = (97) vs 40 Charm, [1d100] => [96] = (96) vs 45 Public Speaking.
[09:07:05] 2LT Komillia Maeless: ((What the Hell? What the actual hell?))
[09:07:05] GM: The Scout flips you over with it's claw, and pokes at you
[09:07:27] GM: An other Scout, curious as to what the first has found, hops over
[09:07:33] 2LT Komillia Maeless: Okay, so I'm a play toy. Just don't poke too hard.
[09:07:56] 2LT Komillia Maeless: "My legs ain't what they used to be."
[09:09:15] 1stLt.Fairman: (afk 15mins)
[09:09:48] GM: beneath Sarah's cockpit the pair of scouts, now joined by the third, look like birds pecking at a chunk of bread.
[09:10:19] 2LT Komillia Maeless: I'm gonna die, or end up as a genetic, and or cybernetic experiment.
[09:10:24] CWO3 Sarah quirks a slight smile at the nature of their debarking, getting back to her feet walking up to the scout trying to look her most Invidy, energy halo and all. She glances over at Komi then and snickers a little. "Unless the hive brain is watching directly, it can't understand you." She moves over to them. " [1d100] => [86] = (86) trust
[09:10:29] CWO3 Sarah: (( vs. 97 ))
[09:10:51] GM: Sarah, they are being rough in their play, so…
[09:10:56] GM: trying to convey that
[09:11:50] CWO3 Sarah: (( oh crap ))
[09:11:56] CWO3 Sarah: (( it deleted a fuckton of what Iwas gonna say ))
[09:11:56] GM: As you make you way down, the scouts scatter and hop back some, watching.
[09:12:08] GM: komi of r your troubles, you have [6d6] => [5,2,5,6,6,5] = (29) sd
[09:12:23] GM: have = take
[09:12:43] 2LT Komillia Maeless: [92-29] => 63
[09:12:45] CWO3 Sarah quirks a slight smile at the nature of their debarking, getting back to her feet walking up to the scout trying to look her most Invidy, energy halo and all. She glances over at Komi then and snickers a little. "Unless the hive brain is watching directly, it can't understand you." She moves over to them. "Calm yourselves. She is with me. Neither of us wishes ill towards any of you. Our most ancient enemies, however, may. The shadows have returned, and we are searching for a solution to stop them." (repose)
[09:13:44] CWO3 Sarah: (( *sees why* ))
[09:13:47] CWO3 Sarah: (( oops ))
[09:13:59] CWO3 Sarah: (( can't use those for my indicator of foreign language. lol ))
[09:14:02] GM: Komi, you feel like how mom told you Zent hazing used to be in the old Border Fleets.
[09:15:20] GM: From the hive a pair of Invid Soldiers approach.
[09:15:46] 2LT Komillia Maeless stands slight behind the Invid Princess.
[09:17:10] Invid Soldier: Evolved one, you may approach. Your slave may accompany you.
[09:18:33] 2LT Komillia Maeless grimaces slightly, but follows behind.
[09:18:58] CWO3 Sarah nods to the Soldier, though a slight face is made at referring to Komi as a slave. But… for now, whatever floats them. "Understood." She tries to hold her head up with an air of authority, remembering where in the heirarchy she's supposed to be back home.
[09:19:22] Invid Soldier leads you into the hive
[09:19:54] Invid Soldier: After a ride up a shaft on a glowy energy elevator you enter a long hall
[09:20:57] 2LT Komillia Maeless looks about in amazement. [1d20] => [3] = (3) PERC
[09:21:16] CWO3 Sarah looks around with a frown, more nervous than anything. Still. [1d20+1] => [18,1] = (19) perc
[09:22:00] Invid Soldier: flanked on either side are at least 30 Odeon on either side, a troop of Cougars mill about while over head the 'day to day' of hive life flits back and forth. On a mezzanine you can see a few robed Stage 5 (Regent looking ones) Invid watching your arrival in a pardoy of a aristocratic court.
[09:23:42] Invid Soldier: ahead of you a trio of robed Stage five await your approach. They are flanked by Soldiers painted in royal red.
[09:24:59] CWO3 Sarah watches that, glad as heck her mecha is back close enough to port them both too if it becomes necessary. She doesn't offer an outward reaction outside of impassivity, however. She looks at the trio, tilting her head just slightly in acknowledgement of their presence.
[09:27:07] Invid Majordomo: Curious greetings evolved one.
[09:27:19] CWO3 Sarah: (( or does that require an impress roll for her trying to put on airs? ))
[09:27:21] CWO3 Sarah: (( lol ))
[09:28:13] GM: (9was someone not paying attention to Suki's 'how to be a royal bitch' lessons?
[09:29:25] 2LT Komillia Maeless plays with the "charming slave" routine. [1d100] => [24] = (24) vs 40 Charm/Impress ((and based on previous experience, probably fails.))
[09:29:40] 2LT Komillia Maeless: ((or not.))
[09:30:26] CWO3 Sarah nods slightly. "Apologies for the unannounced visit. I trust my original message was relayed? The shadows are loose, and back in force. With the intent to wipe us, and everyone, out."
[09:30:42] GM: Meanwhile outside, the wild life is large and toothy, but one of the ships is close enough…
[09:31:55] Invid Majordomo: The Shadow fall is known, much war. Hated enemy fights hated enemy, effecatious result.
[09:34:07] 2LT Kain Crokett drives to the neares ship, keeping an eye on it to figure out what it is, and what wildlife may be about. [1d20+1] => [2,1] = (3) PErc, [1d100] => [4] = (4) vs 60 RSI
[09:34:14] 2LT Kain Crokett: ((…))
[09:34:19] 2LT Kain Crokett: ((Rabbits!))
[09:34:47] GM: Your motion trackers tell you there is movement out there, but hell if YOU can see it.
[09:36:08] CWO3 Sarah shrugs just a little at that. "Not all 'hated enemies' are created equally, however. The ones outside of the shadows are willing for the time being at least to let the wars be at end. But if they lose… the shadows will never allow for that."
[09:37:46] Invid Majordomo makes a motion that Sarah can recognize as a nod.
[09:38:37] Invid Majordomo: You speak of a solution evolved one. Tell us, is this at the behest of the Regess?
[09:40:47] GM: Kain you get to the ship with whoever comes with you.
[09:43:08] 2LT Kain Crokett looks over the ship to determine class, and the best places to start looking for strategic assets and possible salvage. [1d20+1] => [19,1] = (20) PERC, [1d100] => [37] = (37) vs 60 RSI, [1d100] => [56] = (56) vs 63 Intelligence
[09:43:22] 2LT Kain Crokett: ((Damn good rolls.))
[09:43:37] 2LT Kain Crokett: ((The dice were good too.))
[09:45:23] GM: The class is unidentifiable to you, you've never seen a ahip like this before, however, you are able to discern origin. The ship is Karberran. and based off of your sensor sweeps and intell, you figure, it was shot down by surface fire 700 or so years ago.
[09:46:28] CWO3 Sarah raises her eyebrows. "What I do, benefits all the Invid. Regardless of directness, I trust she is aware of what I am doing here. Our own people and equipment would be far too endangered attempting to fight the shadows. Her current concern is protecting them from the threat. And conditions are not how they have been since ancient times. " She nods then. "There is evidence of a possible solution, which was distributed among several ancient ships, with books hidden deep within them. It appears that we aren't the only ones previously aware of the danger after all. But it requires finding them, and solving the puzzle they present."
[09:49:07] Invid Majordomo: Many ships ancient, which ships?
[09:50:27] 2LT Kain Crokett goes exploring with the rest of the crew.
[09:52:07] Invid Majordomo: Tell us about the solution. What is it's nature.
[09:53:12] GM: One of the more curious aspects Kain, is that there are no bodies.
[09:53:45] GM: ((even with decomposition there would be traces, empty armor, but in this case the ships have no remains of the crew at all))
[09:53:52] CWO3 Sarah sighs. "The most ancient of the Tirolian motherships. The first book which was found, was found within one of said ships which was dug up from deep within the ground, in order to evacuate when Tirol fell fully to the shadows." She sighs. "The books contain the solution, the full nature, I will be more aware of when we find enough of the books to piece together what and where exactly it is. But the books, in a fairly direct manner, directly paint the shadows in a light which I previously thought only we did."
[09:53:55] CWO3 Sarah: (( heh ))
[09:55:03] 2LT Kain Crokett looks for records of survivors, and for ambushes. [1d20+1] => [19,1] = (20) PERC, [1d100] => [13] = (13) vs 60 RSI, [1d100] => [37] = (37) vs 63 Intelligence, [1d100] => [21] = (21) vs 55 Detect Ambushes. [1d100] => [35] = (35) vs 50 Track People.
[09:55:37] Invid Majordomo: This solution once found, in whos hands will it fall?
[09:55:53] GM: Nice run of rolls!
[09:58:08] GM: You are able to determine, that the Karberran ship must have been on the winning side. The interior bears the markings of slavage and rescue teams cleaning it of valuable componants and the ships crew before leaving it behind. You can tell why, due to the elevated amounts of ambient radiation and toxins in the atmosphere. It's unhealthy now, such that you will all likely have to be scrubbed when you get back, 700 years ago, you would have needed a NBC suit just to walk around.
[10:02:09] CWO3 Sarah looks up. "Those who are not the ancient enemies. Mistakes, and the power lust of few was what dragged them into conflict. Those who are not 'local'." She looks over the Majordomo. "When the mistakes and misunderstanding have cleared, they have been willing to accept those of our people who have been willing to work with them after said mistakes were made. This helps ensure that we may at some point not be seen as the enemy by them."
[10:03:25] GM: Roll a chamr impress carrie
[10:03:51] CWO3 Sarah: [1d100] => [58] = (58) vs. 85%
[10:04:06] GM: Your story seems to placate them
[10:05:57] Invid Majordomo: Collected objects of the lesser hated enemy have been kept. The all father desired it.
[10:06:12] 2LT Kain Crokett decides to leave the place rather than risk further exposure, especially if all the good stuff is already gone. Looks around for other things that may be useful in the terrain. [1d20+1] => [6,1] = (7) PERC, [1d100] => [21] = (21) vs 60 RSI, [1d100] => [31] = (31) vs 63 Intelligence, [1d100] => [31] = (31) vs 55 Detect Ambushes, [1d100] => [95] = (95) vs 50 Track People.
[10:07:00] GM: Again, you cant see em, but the sensors are telling you the wildlife is out there, stalking yer ass.
[10:08:17] Invid Majordomo: Coffers hold treasure, you may search discared and collected items of the lesser hated enemy.
[10:09:06] CWO3 Sarah nods at that, approvingly. "Thank you."
[10:09:24] Invid Majordomo: Find solution, and eliminate hated enemy, this you will do, for our kind. Hated enemy is not to be shown mercy, hated enemy and all allies must be eradicated.
[10:12:18] 2LT Komillia Maeless stands their looking pretty.
[10:12:21] CWO3 Sarah laughs at that. "The only 'allies' they ever had were people they were luring into that spot, on the intent of getting their backsides exposed for knifing."
[10:13:51] GM: Kain, roll a radio check.
[10:15:30] 2LT Komillia Maeless: [1d100] => [99] = (99) vs 75
[10:15:56] 2LT Kain Crokett: ((er…))
[10:16:03] 2LT Kain Crokett: [1d100] => [76] = (76) vs 75
[10:16:09] 2LT Kain Crokett: ((fail either way.))
[10:16:14] CWO3 Sarah: (( lol! ))
[10:16:27] GM: hehe, indeed
[10:20:05] GM: Sarah, you and Komi are led deeper into the hive and to a large vault.
[10:21:40] CWO3 Sarah looks around promptly to see what all is there, of what they're hoping to find. And curious to see what all is there in general. [1d20+1] => [9,1] = (10) perc[10:22:31] 2LT Kain Crokett looks about but is mainly looking for the book. [1d20+1] => [4,1] = (5)
[10:23:54] GM: there are a lot of items, much of it shiney and artsy
[10:24:20] GM: Komi doenst see all that much beyond the glitz
[10:25:22] GM: there is no ryme or reason to the collection either, it's as if, if the item was importatn to the 'hated enemy' it was kept and tossed in here. (likly not the ONLY repository of goodies, but you get the idea)
[10:25:52] GM: Yes, teh Regent was a horder
[10:26:43] GM: roll a perc again
[10:26:59] CWO3 Sarah: [1d20+1] => [9,1] = (10)
[10:27:08] 2LT Komillia Maeless: [1d20] => [2] = (2)
[10:27:14] GM: and again
[10:27:14] 2LT Komillia Maeless: ((…))
[10:27:17] CWO3 Sarah: [1d20+1] => [9,1] = (10)
[10:27:17] 2LT Komillia Maeless: [1d20] => [20] = (20)
[10:27:27] GM: each roll is an hours worth of time
[10:27:32] CWO3 Sarah: (( *smacks her dice, and WOWs at Komi ))
[10:27:35] GM: And komi hit pay dirt
[10:28:07] GM: Komi finds a golden ticket
[10:28:11] GM: oh, and a book
[10:29:11] GM: All right, I'm gonna call it here, I have something brewing for game but I need to think it out more before I commit
