Chapter 14 - Act 1 - Part 1

BEGIN LOG

[06:27:35] Chris: Hit me with questions and plan type stuff…(all the stuff you wanna do or ask BEFORE you fold out…) then we can move on
[06:29:39] 2LT Kain Crokett: Alright the simplest and most obvious question: How many sets of Terminator armor do we have, and can we make it bear the right markings to go unnoticed for as long as possible?
[06:29:44] CWO3 Sarah: *peeks around*
[06:30:13] Chris: I think I listed that last session…archavist, can you confirm that?
[06:31:02] CWO3 Sarah: Archivist is eating supper so will be slightly slow, looking tho
[06:31:24] 2LT Kain Crokett: I know we were given Terminator and Centurion armor for everyone, but I'm looking SOLELY at the more powerful Terminator armor.
[06:32:26] 2LT Kain Crokett: Er, Legionare armor not Centuion.
[06:34:34] Chris: Well, there is the terminator and legionaair armor, centurion is a rank…
[06:35:05] 2LT Kain Crokett: I know, I caught that after I typed it.
[06:35:10] Chris: kk
[06:35:49] 2LT Kain Crokett: Talicus is able to scrounge up 3 full suits of Terminator armor as well as 4 suits of Legionnairs Armor
[06:35:59] 2LT Kain Crokett: From the log
[06:39:34] Chris: okie dokie
[06:39:56] 2LT Kain Crokett double looks the stats…
[06:40:05] 2LT Kain Crokett: And they are in good repair right?
[06:42:36] Chris: yes
[06:42:57] Chris: they may be old, but the suits are in good roder.
[06:43:53] Chris: order…
[06:44:48] 2LT Kain Crokett: Okay my plan still works, do we have Tirolian Firearms to go with, or else we'll just have to try and hide ours until they get replaced. Meaning concealable pistols only, and if our resident tirolian experts can tell us if we can get away with some MD melee weapons, we can suit Komi and Suki up with their preferred fields.
[06:45:30] Chris: Yes, you have the weapons you stole, as well as a few others for those that tried to steal but failed to steal
[06:46:56] CWO3 Sarah: and the ones who weren't there
[06:46:58] Chris: Melee weapons are fine, they are common among Terminators, who often like to get up close and personal , and then… KA-SHANK!
[06:51:16] 2LT Kain Crokett: One last question before I propose my plan: What is the method of transport to get to the Mothership?
[06:51:27] Chris: The Roil
[06:55:58] 2LT Kain Crokett: Alright, assuming we can land peacefully, we'll have Anji make a report to the ranking officer about coming back from a patrol or something saying that spotted the human ship out near where the fold will likely be detected to seem genuine, but about 115 degrees from the direction the ship actually went to hide.
[06:57:02] CWO3 Sarah: What about officer identification, since she's someone they'll have never seen?
[06:58:03] 2LT Kain Crokett: We'll be in armor, so we just make sure she gets one with the highest rank. Even if we have to switch that out later.
[07:01:07] 2LT Kain Crokett: Provided we get to the point where all eyes are NOT on us, we split into our two teams then proceed to our mission objectives. We'll use a coded burst communications to report relative progress only: such as "35%, no complications" in some coded format. We use this to make sure we hit both targets at the same time. The bursts will happen at 25 minute intervals.
[07:02:08] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): How much time are we going to dedicate to recon?
[07:04:54] 2LT Kain Crokett: As Motherships can reconfigure their interiors, it is best to be able to improvise. However, the top priority is to maintain cover until the last possible second. That means do not pick fights, act as "professionaly casual" as possible, and for the love of God do not run the instant the authorities start walking up to you. Even if they are heavily armed and say things like: Halt, don't move.
[07:05:13] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual) snickers
[07:06:13] 2LT Kain Crokett: If our "allies" are as good as they say, I give it a two hour window.
[07:07:16] 1st.Fairman listens and nods occasionally
[07:07:55] 2LT Kain Crokett: That does not include travel time to the approximate location. Motherships are fracking huge, it could take 4-5 hours getting there assuming you can get a ride to your destination.
[07:08:25] 2LT Kain Crokett: In undercover ops, there are two things you need to be mindful of: 1.
[07:08:45] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual) nods knowingly…having taken leave many atime aboard one.
[07:09:08] 2LT Kain Crokett: It is better to look like an idiot who is on their first day of a new assignment than to blow your cover, so swallow your pride and be prepared to make a fool of yourself.
[07:10:27] 2LT Kain Crokett: 2. It is better to take your time and make sure your info is accurate and delay the mission, then to act on potentially faulty info and fail the mission.
[07:12:28] 2LT Kain Crokett: If it is taking longer than expected to verify your info and get set up to do the final phase of your op than is planned for: do not advance you progression in a positive manner. If you suffer a setback reflect that in your approximate percentage. Even if it means the number is going backwards. The other team will hold.
[07:14:27] 2LT Kain Crokett: There is only ONE caveat to this: If something should happen that will make the mission absolutely impossible if you do not move now, then you can go ahead without using the coordinated strike. Otherwise you will wait for the other team, no matter how oppritune the moment may be: if the other team is not ready you do not move.
[07:14:31] 2LT Kain Crokett: Any questions so far?
[07:14:37] 1st.Fairman: ((what are the target?))
[07:15:12] 1st.Fairman: (I know of tha assassination but the ohter??)
[07:15:13] 2LT Kain Crokett: ((There are two targets: the Doge and the book.))
[07:15:51] 1st.Fairman: (ok didnt really think book as target but ok.)
[07:17:16] 1st.Fairman: "Which team will be with the guide? What of his support team?"
[07:20:46] 1st.Fairman: .
[07:20:54] 2LT Kain Crokett: That is one of the pitfalls of undercover work: you really don't get a support team. Our guides will be mixed in with us, but we must take the lead to ensure the mission's success.
[07:21:43] 2LT Kain Crokett: And make sure you are extremely clear to them that you will not broker ANY activity on their part that threatens the mission.
[07:21:45] 1st.Fairman: "Gotcha; mixed in."
[07:24:20] 2LT Kain Crokett: Now as to the team splits. The Tome Team will be : Lt. Fairman, Chief Amdahl, and Lt. Maeless. Maeless you are authorized melee weapons, and I want you to use them to SILENTLY kill people when it is absolutely necessary to do so, but not before.
[07:25:03] Sgt. Summerwind: And no bar fights either…
[07:25:33] 2LT Kain Crokett: The Doge Team will be: Capt. Ishida, Sergeant Summerwind, Lt. Madressa, and myself.
[07:25:46] 1st.Fairman nods slowly
[07:27:01] 2LT Kain Crokett: Remember, improvise and keep your calm and cover. Shit will happen, but if you keep it so that it looks like you were not the ones involved you should be fine.
[07:28:22] 2LT Kain Crokett: Sgt. Summerwind, I need you to ID and wear the highest ranked armor we got. Also, teach everyone the word traitor just in case we need to gun down our allies to maintain cover. I don't want to think about that possibility but it is a reality in far too many Undercover Ops.
[07:28:38] 2LT Kain Crokett: ((AFK.))
[07:29:20] Sgt. Summerwind: Sure thing. Cap'n wanted me to give yall a primer on some common phrases too, like, 'wheres the shitter', you know, important stuff like that.
[07:29:31] 1st.Fairman thinks does he know the word traitor (tirolian [1d100] => [23] = (23) vs 50)
[07:30:52] 2LT Kain Crokett: ((back))
[07:30:55] GM: There are two words for traitor, much like in other cultures, the correct, and the colloquial. The colloquial is a derivitive of the name zor…much like the ols US would say Benedict Arnold.
[07:31:39] Sgt. Summerwind: I've also made some treats for you lesser races.
[07:32:08] 1st.Fairman quirks a brow
[07:32:34] Sgt. Summerwind: I've modded the helmets with a voxbox to alter your speech, as well as added in that Second Sight that Lt. Vinai came up with.
[07:33:21] Sgt. Summerwind: Basically put, the tiresian speaker can hear whats said to you by the lovals and can reply via your voxbox, just tell your residant linguist what you wanna say…
[07:33:28] Sgt. Summerwind: ((locals))
[07:34:24] Sgt. Summerwind: I hope that you will remember all of this next time you submit a performance eval, and rig it so I do NOT get promoted. RShits really cutting into my fun time.
[07:35:19] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): But Lieutenant Summerwind has such a nice ring to it.
[07:35:28] Sgt. Summerwind: Dont you DARE!
[07:35:33] Sgt. Summerwind: Ma'am…
[07:36:19] 1st.Fairman: "I will keep you where you want Anji"
[07:36:48] Sgt. Summerwind: Eh heh…riiiight.
[07:37:30] 2LT Kain Crokett: I'm sure we can arrange something Sgt.
[07:38:21] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual) looks at Kain.
[07:38:26] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): Continue.
[07:39:09] CWO3 Sarah snickers for just a moment at Anji, and shakes her head, lookingback up to listen.
[07:42:28] 2LT Kain Crokett: Once we have our objectives accomplished we will likely be "made" as infiltrators. This is why we must avoid combat as much as possible prior to that point. We may have a running battle to get back to the Roil. However, upon accomplishing the mission, make a full communication to the other team to determine their status. They made need help, or a miracle would have happened that allows us to walk out peacefully. However, do not count on the latter. Once we get to the extraction phase, expect this to be the hardest portion of the mission.
[07:43:33] 1st.Fairman nods
[07:45:20] 2LT Kain Crokett: If we can take the Roil we came in on, great, fewer IFF issues. However, I have submitted a password to the comms to let them know we are who we are: Khee-yookh. It's Hebrew for 'smile' and as Hebrew is not a commonly used human dialect it is unlikely the masters will know it to use against us.
[07:45:45] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): Mazeltov.
[07:46:16] 1st.Fairman takes mental note
[07:46:17] 2LT Kain Crokett: I need everyone to memorize just in case some of us don't make it, or we get seperated while trying to steal a way off the ship.
[07:47:10] 2LT Kain Crokett: Any other concerns before we begin the op?
[07:47:48] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): Additional gear.
[07:48:31] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): We have armor and weaponry accounted for, communications as well. But additional gear. As the LT said, there is no support, no support but what we pack in.
[07:53:17] 2LT Kain Crokett: Rations and surveilance gear will be of particular note. I'll leave it to Lt. Fairman to determine what else he needs based on the previous recovery of one of these tomes. It's the interior of ship so we should be able to find our way around without the need for climbing gear. Also take ANY of the "local currency" you have left just in case you need to buy a non-intoxicating drink or food in order to blend in. Finally, whatever you take, try to keep it small enough to remain hidden. The less we stand out, the better.
[07:54:27] 2LT Kain Crokett: Unless there is something else you think I may have missed.
[07:55:27] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): Demo
[07:56:17] 1st.Fairman takes note of vibro knife for sure
[07:58:57] 2LT Kain Crokett: Alright, but keep it light. Motherships are also city ships. This may be an assassination mission, but we WILL keep civilian casualties to an absolute minimum.
[08:01:08] GM: Okay, unless there are any last questions…the briefing adjournes.
[08:02:11] 1st.Fairman goes collect his items and such
[08:02:21] 1st.Fairman claims terminator armor
[08:02:22] GM: kk afk bio, brb
[08:02:36] 2LT Kain Crokett preps his gear.
[08:03:21] 2LT Komillia Maeless equips the Legionaire armor and takes a few vibroknives.
[08:03:41] 2LT Komillia Maeless also grabs her Praxian Axe.
[08:05:21] CWO3 Sarah sticks on one of the legionaire armors, and looks through the weapons that were brought aboard, for one to equip.
[08:05:48] GM: back
[08:06:19] 2LT Komillia Maeless: ((wb))
[08:07:02] 2LT Komillia Maeless: ((now I gotta go AFK…))
[08:08:12] CWO3 Sarah: (( lol ))
[08:08:14] CWO3 Sarah: (( :p :) ))
[08:08:40] GM: Ishida claims a suit of Term armor, takes her two 'local' blades, and the rifle as well as some other sharp pointy knives and some stuff that goes boom (two breaching charges and a few grenades.
[08:09:11] GM: Mulitool, etc…
[08:09:33] 2LT Kain Crokett claims the last Term armor.
[08:09:48] 2LT Kain Crokett: ((unless it's the highest ranking armor, then it's Anji's))
[08:10:53] GM: ((there are three term armors, so, yeah highest rank goes to anji
[08:11:58] 2Lt. Aylanea makes sure to take the weapon she secured before, with her legionaire armor, making sure it all fits, and checking the weapon witih a nod, checking to see how big a weapon can be concealed with the armor, as well, in case she needs something bigger.
[08:12:38] GM: [3d100] => [38,25,65] = (128) Rank on armors … 100-50% enlisted 49-15 Centurion 14-01 Occifer
[08:15:09] GM: two Centurion grade, and one enlisted [1d100] => [57] = (57) 1-50 Tessarius, 51-00 Legionnaire / Centuriton [2d100] => [76,33] = (109) 01-25 High Centurion, 26-62 master Centurion, 63-100 Centurion
[08:15:57] GM: Anji has a Master Centurion rank, Ishida will take the Enlisted Legionnaire ranked one…
[08:16:15] 1st.Fairman takes the other centurion
[08:16:20] 2LT Kain Crokett takes the last Legionare armor
[08:16:38] GM: The other 4 are [4d100] => [16,52,34,48] = (150)
[08:17:12] GM: Three Tessarius, and one Legionnaire
[08:17:43] 2Lt. Aylanea: (( how big a weapon will the lelgionaire armor conceal? ))
[08:18:04] GM: You have a rifle mount under the cloak on the back
[08:18:18] 2Lt. Aylanea: (( hee hee, okay. ))
[08:19:09] GM: actually, on the back over the cloack, I forgot the cloak tapers at the waist into a kama
[08:19:40] 2Lt. Aylanea: (( well, that messes that up totally. :p :) ))
[08:19:43] 2Lt. Aylanea: (( lol ))
[08:19:43] GM: Cargo, none, only what the wearer straps to his armor or carries with him
[08:20:50] CWO3 Sarah: (( what all kind of weapons were brought over by the others? ))
[08:20:59] GM: armor on the combat armors are 50, the terms have 85 + the inner suit
[08:21:00] CWO3 Sarah: (( since Sarah didn't capture one before ))
[08:21:23] GM: the lighter armor also can accomodate an innersuit
[08:21:34] GM: Tr-LLR
[08:21:39] CWO3 Sarah: (( kk ))
[08:21:48] GM: page 248
[08:22:33] 1st.Fairman fixes a pack in the back under the karma for his items.
[08:22:47] GM: Kain has a Tr-ISG and Suki has a TR-LR-H, and I believe Ay also has a Tr-ISG
[08:22:54] 1st.Fairman: I just jave Tr rifle, vibeo knife; 1 plasma grenade
[08:24:27] GM: Fairman: 'I suggest you let us go?" Doge: "Why shoudl I do that?" Anji: "becuase he's holding a thermal detonator! Everyone in room: " AHHHHHH!"
[08:25:08] CWO3 Sarah checks one of the LLRs, mounting it properly, and nodding just a little bit.
[08:25:10] CWO3 Sarah: (( rofl ))
[08:25:39] 1st.Fairman: (hehe)
[08:26:27] CWO3 Sarah: (( just played through all of Lego Star Wars: Complete Saga last night and early today, for the heck of it. :) ))
[08:26:42] 2LT Kain Crokett: ((Good thing Jaron is going after the tome.))
[08:27:00] 1st.Fairman: that just weapons
[08:27:50] GM: You are a sick woman carrie
[08:29:16] GM: Okay, the captian of the ship accepts the plan as is, imparting the sage advice that, "No OPLAN survives first contact intact." but it's a good baseline.
[08:29:18] CWO3 Sarah: (( gee, thanks ))
[08:30:12] 2LT Kain Crokett: ((That's why I put such a heavy emphasis on improvisation.))
[08:30:19] GM: You are told that the fold will last roughly 2 hours, which to those that are good with the maths, realize will consist of 10 days in real time
[08:31:06] GM: Thats one way…
[08:32:34] 2LT Kain Crokett nods
[08:33:18] GM: Okay, and off you go
[08:33:30] GM: Cue the Dr. Who theme music
[08:36:46] GM: You defold in a system that can be described as such "The fuck happened here?" The sun a main seqence yellow, but the place is littered in asteroids in defined belts. (in the beginning of planet formation) there are a few larger masses that look to be proto planets, much vulcanism as well as regular peltings by asteroids into the primordial magma.
[08:38:13] GM: You defold 'under' the system 'plane' and are told that the mother ship has been parked above it, as to avoid being crushed within the aseroids slowly swirling around the young star.
[08:39:00] GM: the entire system from near sun orbit out to the pheriphery blinks with the pin prick flashes of asteroids impacting other asteroids.
[08:39:39] GM: the dust between the asteroids and proto planets arc with static discharges of electicity and plasma.
[08:39:56] GM: nature at it most raw and powerful.
[08:41:03] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual) for one is awestuck at the beauty of it all.
[08:41:16] 2LT Kain Crokett: Ladies and Gentlemen, the Hand of God.
[08:41:23] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual) clicks a few pictures like a Japanese tourist.
[08:41:46] 2LT Kain Crokett gets an eyeful.
[08:42:09] 1st.Fairman is watching like a child
[08:43:33] GM: After a few moments as even the bridge crew is dumbstruck by the display, and, for once, is able to see the forest for the trees, swings back into action.
[08:43:34] CWO3 Sarah looks out at that, wide-eyed.
[08:43:47] CWO3 Sarah: (( lol Suki ))
[08:43:51] CWO3 Sarah: (( clicking pictures ))
[08:44:20] Colonial Ship Captain: Assault team, to your ship. Good luck and Godspeed!
[08:44:58] GM: And yeah, Suki is taking her camer along…so nya!
[08:45:02] GM: camera
[08:45:08] 1st.Fairman starts to head that way
[08:46:25] GM: As you arrive aboard the Roil, in gear and such, you realize that, you know…the Masters did have decent fashion sence. The Terminator armor worn by the dimunitive females and the taller Ell Tee cut a dapper image.
[08:48:42] GM: okay then…
[08:49:03] GM: The Roil sets off and makes its way thru the disk
[08:49:08] CWO3 Sarah: (( hehe ))
[08:49:45] GM: as you approach, you can see a myriad of smaller ships coming to and fro form the asteroids, clearly mining operations at work.
[08:50:46] GM: looming ahead is the Mothership surrounded by Tirolian crusiers as well as some Zentraedi ships
[08:51:25] CWO3 Sarah blinks nervously now.
[08:51:50] GM: there are even a few ships of a type and class you have never seen before, like a cross between a Quiltra Magdomillia and a T'sien Macross class
[08:52:29] 2LT Kain Crokett: Whoever they are they aren't afraid of doing something new.
[08:52:57] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual) *click* … *click*
[08:53:27] 1st.Fairman takes a breath as he takes all of this in
[08:54:37] CWO3 Sarah raises her eyebrows at the newer ships, blinking just a little.
[08:54:54] Pilot Merrik: So, where do you want to land?
[08:55:16] 1st.Fairman looks to Kain
[08:57:13] 2LT Kain Crokett: The best place would be the least guarded entry, barring that the one that is most equidistant to both of our objectives.
[08:57:31] Sgt. Summerwind: Just fly casual, just dont look like your trying to…
[08:57:52] Sgt. Summerwind snickers
[08:58:10] 1st.Fairman smirks
[08:59:02] GM: The pilot brings you under the massive mothership past a few bays that are hives of activity as transport craft off all sizes mill about offloading the belts bounty.
[08:59:36] GM: There are evena few largish asteroids tethered to the ship with crews mining them in space suits.
[09:00:19] CWO3 Sarah eyerolls at Anji and laughs very softly, watching the activity interestedly.
[09:00:29] 1st.Fairman asks "What do you think they are mining? Ice? Crystals? Ores?"
[09:00:46] Pilot Merrik: All of the above.
[09:01:27] Pilot Merrik: Okay, we will put in here, the dockmaster is sympathetic to our cuase.
[09:01:54] 1st.Fairman nods
[09:01:57] Pilot Merrik points to a niche of a bay, likely a tertiary reserve bay.
[09:02:27] GM: You land and an elevator takes the Roil into a pressurized area.
[09:03:45] GM: The pilot debarks first, and greets the dockmaster, and rewards his discretion with a box of Gallants that you had provided to 'the cause' earlier.
[09:04:10] GM: The other boxes are carted off never to be seen again.
[09:05:02] GM: An other tirolian approaches and the pilot points back to the ship, and likely you. And the pair of them enter the ship.
[09:06:27] Pilot Merrik: This is where we part company. I'll remain docked here to extract you. This is Bay 9755L, do not get lost on your way back.
[09:06:49] Pilot Merrik gestures to the other tirolian.
[09:07:55] 1st.Fairman eyes the other tirolian
[09:07:56] Pilot Merrik: This is you guide, you can just call him Point. Names aren't used by the members of the cloth here.
[09:08:12] CWO3 Sarah listens quietly.
[09:08:35] 2LT Kain Crokett: We need two, our best bet to succeed is to hit the tome and the doge at the same time.
[09:08:55] Point: We know, I'm just here to get you to the others.
[09:08:55] 2LT Kain Crokett: Or at the very least good directions to one and Point can go to the other.
[09:09:07] 2LT Kain Crokett: Understood.
[09:09:17] Point: Well, follow me then.
[09:09:32] 2LT Kain Crokett follows Point.
[09:09:41] 1st.Fairman nods and follows POint
[09:09:52] Point leads you to a hover truck and waits for you all to get aboard.
[09:10:21] GM: As he drives you to the others he gives you a basic layout.
[09:11:06] Point: Okay, the ships living areas are divided into a few main areas, but, the one you are interested is the Upper levels, where the 'elites' live.
[09:11:28] Point: Clean streets, dirty souls.
[09:12:17] Point: The Doge, he lives in the palace thats located under the bridge of the ship, in fact, the bridge is part of the palace.
[09:12:39] 1st.Fairman listens intently; occasionally looking as things pass by
[09:12:40] Point: Gives him a nice view from his…how you you humans put it, Bone tower?
[09:12:52] 2LT Kain Crokett: Ivory Tower.
[09:13:10] Point: Ah, Ay..vree.
[09:14:51] Point: So, the Doge likes to hold balls and feasts, but his men are no slouches, neither is the Doge actually, but I'm sure you special types can handle him. P'Tok knows we've tried more then once.
[09:15:15] CWO3 Sarah listens quietly to that.
[09:15:27] Point: But, we've been quiet for the last few months, anticipating your arrival.
[09:15:55] 1st.Fairman asks Point "How long have you been of the cloth?"
[09:16:06] Point: A few cycles now.
[09:16:17] Point: I'm still just an Acolyte.
[09:16:30] Point: But, beats being a Initiate.
[09:16:35] 1st.Fairman: "Where was you before coming to this ship?"
[09:16:43] Point: I was born here.
[09:16:52] 1st.Fairman nods
[09:17:39] 2LT Kain Crokett: What do you know of the Doge's palace?
[09:17:51] Point: Most of us were, except the ancients, they were bron over Tirol, but got left behind with all the other 'useless' rabble.
[09:18:47] Point: Oh, well, it's big, guarded, the lower tier is about three levels, then you have the bridge tower, an observation deck and ball room, then the living quarters, then the Bridge.
[09:20:13] 1st.Fairman ask "do you of a tome?" if he doesnt give him alittle info on it
[09:21:20] Point: Do I of a Tome? I dont think so.
[09:21:48] Point: I dont really like books…
[09:21:53] CWO3 Sarah blinks at that.
[09:22:03] CWO3 Sarah: (( or we split already? ))
[09:22:11] Point: ((no…))
[09:22:16] CWO3 Sarah: (( kk ))
[09:22:23] CWO3 Sarah: (( didn't think we had ))
[09:22:33] Point pulls onto a side street.
[09:22:54] Point: We wont be able to get onto the upper levels right now, not in this, you'll need a pass.
[09:23:34] Point: But the others will deal with that, I'm just to bring you to them.
[09:23:38] 1st.Fairman asks Point "Do you know anyone that knows about books or a historian?"
[09:23:49] Point: You'd have to talk to the others.
[09:23:58] Point: Oh, here we are.
[09:24:30] 2LT Kain Crokett looks at what he has to work with.
[09:24:45] 1st.Fairman nods and thanks Point
[09:24:56] Point drives up to a delapidated store front and pulls into the alley behind it. A pair or armed folks stop the van, and talk to Point, then they open a gate and allow him to drive in, closing the gate behind them.
[09:25:11] Point: Inside there./me points…
[09:25:17] Point points.
[09:25:24] CWO3 Sarah: (( *groans* ))
[09:25:40] GM: been waiting to use that all night
[09:25:46] CWO3 Sarah: (( yeah, I figured. ))
[09:25:49] CWO3 Sarah: (( lol ))
[09:25:56] GM: I think you got the point
[09:26:05] CWO3 Sarah: (( arg ))
[09:26:08] CWO3 Sarah: (( *paddles* ))
[09:26:25] GM: so, you make your way inside I assume?
[09:26:45] 2LT Kain Crokett walks inside.
[09:27:19] 2LT Komillia Maeless walks in, looking over the area.
[09:27:49] GM: The others stop what they are doing as you enter, but one of the guards from earlier lets them know you are with them. After all, seeing a troop of folks in Terminator armor etc, kinda freaked them all out.
[09:29:34] GM: As you enter a middle aged man approaches and welcomes you
[09:29:59] Father: Ah, so good of you to come, we have been eagerly awaiting your arrival. The others call me Father.
[09:30:39] Father looks over the group.
[09:30:41] 1st.Fairman nods "Thank you father"
[09:30:59] Father: I see you have many meltrandi with you, this is indeed a good prtant of things to come.
[09:31:41] 1st.Fairman cuts to the chase on his end "do you of a tome?" if he doesnt give him alittle info on it
[09:32:25] Father: Um, do I love a tome? Well, no, I do like to read, but I do not like books in that way. I must say, your human ways are most odd.
[09:32:57] 1st.Fairman: "Do you know anyone that knows more about books or a historian?"
[09:34:08] Father: Ah I see, among our followers, we have but a historian of our order, and an archivist. But, we think we know of the tome you seek, Talicus has sent us that information.
[09:34:12] 2LT Komillia Maeless: I'm curious, why does having Meltrandi amongst us make for a good omen. And I think Fairman is curious about the Tome we need to steal from the Doge.
[09:34:36] 1st.Fairman nods to father "Thank you"
[09:34:52] Father: You must jest, the Meltrandi are formidible warriors, for a slave.
[09:35:27] Father: Far more cunning then the Zentraedi, and if I might say so, far more plesnet to look at.
[09:35:36] 1st.Fairman: (sorry fingers didnt want to type know in those sentences)
[09:35:36] Father winks at Ay
[09:37:00] Sgt. Summerwind: Well, if I hear Ay yelling out 'who's your daddy' tonight, I'll know whats goin on in that room…
[09:37:06] 2LT Komillia Maeless tries to hide the twist in her face, at the "for slaves" comment.
[09:39:38] 1st.Fairman tilts his head slightly "Father; has there been any increase is security around Doge? Do you know of the location of the Tome?"
[09:39:49] 2Lt. Aylanea twitches slightly at the 'for slaves' comment, and fglances towards Anji, tsking.
[09:40:00] Father: 'The Doge' That is his title, not his name.
[09:41:32] Father: His security is tight. But, that is for us, we are just partisans looking to over throw an entrenched tyrant bent on debauchery and vice. For Soldiers of the Light such as you, I am sure htey will be swept aside with ease!
[09:42:23] Father leads you up stairs and to a table with some mpas on.
[09:44:17] 2LT Kain Crokett looks at the maps.
[09:44:28] GM: Father shows you where the known guard positions are. The palace guards follow the triumverate rule. There are two triumverates guarding the entrance. another that roams the palace garden, inside, there are at least another four triumverates per floor. (three floors)
[09:45:26] GM: The ObsDeck/Ballroom as at least two triumverates when the area is not being used for functions, but many times that depending on the function and who is in attendance.
[09:46:12] GM: Father has no information on the Living Quarters or the bridge security.
[09:46:56] GM: As for the tome. The tome is in the hands of a Private collector, a Sciance Master and member in good standing within the Doge's court.
[09:47:47] GM: His estate is on the Palatine (terraced mansion area just below the palace) the Palatine is most certianly a gated community.
[09:48:53] GM: It should be noted that the Palatine encompasses at least a square mile
[09:49:10] GM: mush of it gardens and other trappings of fancy living.
[09:49:13] GM: much
[09:51:11] GM: Father tells you that, the estates are guarded by bodyguards employed by the individual (much courtly intrigue going around, the guards protect the estate owners more from each other then the riff raff outside the Palatine. The Doge's men patrol the Palatine's common areas, to ensure some impartiality in terms of security, and to make sure that petty rivalries dont…spill out into the streets.)
[09:52:06] Father: Kill each other in your own homes, but, don't disturb the peace. Lovely sentimant.
[09:53:21] 2LT Kain Crokett: Sounds very Shakesperian.
[09:53:32] Father: Who?
[09:53:39] 2LT Kain Crokett: ((Yes, I know I probably misspelled that.))
[09:53:42] CWO3 Sarah rolls her eyes slightly. "Such a wonderful group. Yeah." She shakes her head.
[09:54:34] 2LT Kain Crokett: A writer from our world, about 4 or 5 centuries ago. Some of his plays had the aristocracy behaving in the manner you suggest the Doge let's your aristocrats behave.
[09:55:06] Father: Hmm, interesting. I do hope that you do not behave like that now, Talicus spoke so higly of you…
[09:56:05] GM: Never…EVER tell the fanatic that you have a checkered past lol.
[09:57:22] GM: Okay, moving on, what do you do?
[09:57:23] 2LT Kain Crokett: We do not.
[09:58:32] GM lobs ball into players court.
[10:00:13] 2LT Kain Crokett: We are going to need access to the upper levels, naturally. We first need to do some recon of our own before we can act. How long before we can get up there to learn what we can?
[10:00:20] 1st.Fairman: "Well the Palatine might be easy to get into if we can get on the roster to patrol there to keep the peace"
[10:01:10] 2LT Kain Crokett: Also, any personality quirks the Doge may have? Like a particular food he always eats, the company he tends to keep in private, things of that sort. The more we know the better we can plan.
[10:02:07] 2LT Kain Crokett: Agreed, you lead that team, so I trust you to deal with that issue as you see fit. Just don't blow your cover.
[10:02:31] Father: We can head up there tonight if you wish. We can provide you with civilian clothing as well. The areas outside of the Palatine are not patrolled as heavily.
[10:03:17] Father: The Doge fancies fine wines and other delacasies, but we've tried to poison him, those attempts have always failed.
[10:03:57] Father: There is a gala ball planned to occur in a few days time as well.
[10:04:35] 2LT Kain Crokett nods. we will either need two different guides or VERY good directions. Also, we need your most disciplined people to be our guides. We want to keep this as far off the radar as possible until the last possible second. So we need to have people that won't blow the mission by going off because they see something that is brutally offensive to them.
[10:05:42] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): The ball might make one portion of this go a little easier.
[10:07:13] CWO3 Sarah hmms, glancing to Suki, and to Father. "Will the collector be going to this ball? And if so, will that cause security shift since he isn't in his house to be protected?"
[10:08:04] Father: Oh yes, he will certianly be in attendance. Guests are allowed to bring a small entourage as well, anything larger is forbidden by the Doge.
[10:08:06] 2LT Kain Crokett: You watch too many movies.
[10:08:51] CWO3 Sarah nods. "then that will be the time to go in for the book, likely, yes." She glances to Jaron.
[10:09:19] 1st.Fairman: "If the collector is at the ball; I will need someone who can break into the collestor's home quietly"
[10:09:24] 2LT Kain Crokett: Security doesn't go lax at Galas, they go UP. There are large sections that they allow outsiders into, but the various points of entry tend to be locked down by security agents. Especially, in places such as this.
[10:09:45] 2LT Kain Crokett: Well, the tome part would be easier, yes.
[10:10:38] Father: We are ready to provide you with a strike team of our finist, of course not nearly as adept as you, but what they lack in training, then make up for in determination and zeal.
[10:12:58] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual) motiones to Kain and walks over to the side.
[10:13:17] 1st.Fairman: "Just a thought; if we get the tome. the collector would call for investigation or search? Father does your people have places to hide in just a case?"
[10:13:24] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): How many days until the ball Oji-sama?
[10:13:42] Father: Are you addressing me? Um, 4 days.
[10:14:32] Father: Oh yes, we have places to hide, they are known to our faithful who's area that is.
[10:15:03] 2LT Kain Crokett follows after Ishida at her beckoning.
[10:15:12] 1st.Fairman: "Would the search for the tome draw away security from the Doge's palace?"
[10:15:59] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): If we want to use the Ball as a cover for the tome team. That gives us four days to gather intell on the estate and the palace. We might even see the security being put into place.
[10:16:50] Father: No, the Doge would not send his men to deal with a 'domestic issue'.
[10:17:12] Father: Well, certianly none from the palace guard.
[10:17:14] 2LT Kain Crokett: Agreed. And I can even think of a few ways to potentially get close to the doge in that time. Might require a slight change in the line up.
[10:17:49] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): If there will be many guards, it may be easier if we were to seperate him from them.
[10:17:56] 2LT Kain Crokett: But this requires some info I'd rather acquire myself than rely on Father.
[10:18:03] Cpt Ishida (Delta Actual): Agreed.
[10:19:14] GM: Okay, I think it be Skill Spam time.
[10:19:20] 1st.Fairman nods to father
[10:20:27] GM: Now…I has a lit o skill , relevent skills, on a piece o paper in front of me, form each of you, lets see if what you choose matches what I have
[10:20:32] GM: lit = list
[10:20:49] GM: Ishida will of course roll last.
[10:21:42] GM: These skill rolls assume you putter about the upper levels more…less patrolled areas.
[10:22:41] 1st.Fairman: intelligence [1d100] => [77] = (77) vs 73; Detect concealment [1d100] => [1] = (1) vs 80; tactics [1d100] => [68] = (68) vs 90; Camouflage [1d100] => [65] = (65) vs 75; Tirolian history [1d100] => [28] = (28) vs 46; perception for the hell of it [1d20+4] => [17,4] = (21)

[10:24:00] GM: rest of you please, roll, so taht I may use that time to think
[10:24:01] 1st.Fairman: oh and detect ambush [1d100] => [53] = (53) vs 85

[10:27:44] 2LT Komillia Maeless: [1d100] => [9] = (9) vs 85 Navigation, [1d100] => [3] = (3) vs 70 RSI, [1d100] => [19] = (19) vs 75 Boarding Spaceships, [1d20] => [19] = (19) PERC
[10:28:19] GM: Roll for Ay as well
[10:28:39] 2Lt. Aylanea: (( yes, I'm working on it ))
[10:30:31] 2Lt. Aylanea: [1d100] => [56] = (56) Intelligence vs. 72%, [1d100] => [97] = (97) Land Navigation vs. 69%, [1d100] => [55] = (55) overall navigation vs. 88%, [1d100] => [57] = (57) wilderness survival vs. 68% (For any plants that might disturb their efforts, or anything that might be planted poisonus underneath windows or anything, or cause sneezing),
[10:31:07] 2Lt. Aylanea: Climbing [1d100] => [65] = (65) vs. 93% to look at entry points for some places, in a less than normal manner.
[10:31:43] GM: Ishida, [1d100] => [87] = (87) Boarding Ships vs 83%, [1d100] => [10] = (10) Camo vs 78%, [1d100] => [89] = (89) Intell vs 76% / Anji [1d100] => [99] = (99) Streetwise vs 40%, [1d100] => [17] = (17) Boarding Ships vs 40%
[10:32:23] GM: Okay the results.
[10:36:43] 2Lt. Aylanea: (( so how'd we do in rolling the things you were expecting? lol. ))
[10:38:37] GM: Kain is able to use his Disguise and UC Ops skill coupled with Surviellance (assisted by Camoflague by the Suki) to get footage of the estate and the Palace, using the Navigation skills of the others to worm your way into elevated positions along the walls. Those that made the boarding space ships rolls note that, the Mothership is a beast, not only is it huge, each ship is essentially unique, those that have actually been inside the 'drywall' of them can attest to this fact. History Tirolian, tells you that, the masters were a paranoid lot, and their history is rife with tales of assassination as well as escape from assassination. Tactics coupled with that tells you that as with any situation, you should always have a way out. Lore Invid tells you that even with a swarm, no fully operational Mothership was ever successfully defeated by the Invid, and even the few crashed ones that they ransaked on Earth were nightmares of traps, dead ends, trap doors, and other pratfalls. (the holographic walls where Boiroids would just materialize out of were particualrly vexxing.
[10:41:35] GM: Ay, you think that you recognize a species of constrictor vine, as well as the more mundane hedges and rose bushes that, while attractive and smell good, are full of thorns, which in and of themselves are barriers. (besides, hedges are rather thick and hard to get thry quietly, that and they are perfect spots to hide alarm triggers and other nastiness. If you've ever stubbed your toe over a spinkler head in tall grass, you know what I mean) … working on the concealments
[10:44:41] GM: Sarahs concealment notes a few surviellance devices as well as a few weapons bunkers beuilt into the scenery. Jaron, you notice by sheer happenstance one of those aforementioned holowalls (will mark on map) along the elevator track on the Palace / Bridge tower.
[10:46:05] 1st.Fairman ponders that as its very interesting
[10:46:24] GM: I'm also assuming that all of this shit is sahred with everyone so…there
[10:46:43] 1st.Fairman: (yea)
[10:46:49] 2Lt. Aylanea: (( yup for both chars on me ))
[10:48:30] 2LT Komillia Maeless: ((correct))
[10:52:04] 2LT Kain Crokett: ((And I'm plotting how to use this info. I'm assuming the video and pictures will give us a good layout as well as info on who comes and goes through the building, and possibly who they come to see?))
[10:54:53] GM: The vid is all exterior.
[10:55:38] GM: Free RP as you interrogate your findings.
[10:57:48] 1st.Fairman: (sorry but Im falling asleep. going to head out.)
[10:58:41] GM: kk, save the info dump and look it over
[10:58:52] 2Lt. Aylanea: (( kk ))
[10:59:02] GM: if you has questions, I suggest in Forum, as well as Free RP in forum
[10:59:05] 2Lt. Aylanea: kk
[10:59:23] GM: in truth, THIS if ANY time would be a great time to use Forum
